Hi everybody, I see this discussed here from time to time, but I'm still a bit confused by the FCS use of Brazilian rosewood. Not necessarily the legal or supply issues, but just the usage of it.

1) So the FCS will not use Brazilian for custom builds. However, would some runs in the future have the chance of using Brazilian similar to how the Wildwood 10s used them? Or has usage totally stopped altogether, period?
2) Also the lingering question in my head: Did Mayer's Black One guitar use a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard since the neck was grabbed from an SRV template? Also, did the subsequent masterbuilt John Cruz guitars use Indian or Brazilian? Hope Mr. Jon Fuentes doesn't mind me linking to the picture of his Masterbuilt Black One's fingerboard: http://www.flickr.com/photos/54643029@N ... /lightbox/

If the original had Brazilian, it would make sense that the masterbuilt Black Ones would have Brazilian as well UNLESS the FCS stopped use altogether and did not use Brazilian at all at the time. To note, two of these threads discuss the use of the wood:

Hope someone can help with either one of those little questions.

SRV's original guitar had an Indian rosewood fingerboard.
WE stopped using Brazilian last year.

Oh very cool, thank you Mike! I'm guessing that Indian on the original translates to Indian on both TBO and its 83 replicas then. It was just running my head if I'd need to worry about anything if I were to travel with something like a TBO MB.

To me, Brazilian is nice, but I think the regulation puts it more into the spotlight. If tighter restrictions were to be put on Indian Rosewood, I'm sure it would be the same story.
