A real beauty, congrats! You can´t beat a nice 2-tone.

And a nice trio, indeed. Does the Thin Skin have the same neck profile as the MB 54?

congrats! thats a beauty, nice grain pattern, that looks brand new, you must have bought it from a collector? I bought my Dennis Galuszka 54' over a year ago, it's been played a lot and is getting a cool natural relic look and feel to it, the more played in it gets the more I love it, they get better with age as the originals, these are the best strats Fender has put out since 1954, IMHO, if I had the funds, I would find a second one, great score on your part!

The MB 54 is advertised to have a U neck shape, whereas the Thin Skin is having an "oversized C". I personally do not feel too much difference, but that's only me. :)

After playing for 2 hours, I have to say I feel now a difference; MB 54 has a wider neck, it feels like there is more "meat" to it, whereas the Thin Skin is a bit more "skinnier", if that makes sense ?

It is brand new, it came with 2 cases, the "goodies" bag has not been opened and it was never played. I got it through my usual dealer who bought it from a collector. The same dealer got another one 2 months ago, a John Cruz build, which was also brilliant, but I let it pass since it did not have a COA, nor the second case and was lucky enough to get this one 2 months later, with all its case candy. :D

Good things come to those who wait, you were very lucky to find one new/unplayed, mine was played but only missing the strap(which is hard to find used, I've been looking), I too would have passed if the COA was missing. How does it play and sound? I've played 3 of these 2 were incredible(including mine) only one did not really shine.

It plays like a dream. Comparing it to the Thin Skin (Fat 50's pups), it's a bit less trebly, still shiny, but also has a lot more bass, which is really nice, but forces me to set up new sounds for it  :) .

I've got the strap as well, but it's a very small one, if I "extend" it the most, my guitar is hanging straight on my stomach, a bit too high for my taste; I therefore use a normal strap to play it.

Yes, the strap is too short to be useful, so it stays in the case. Great guitars though! :D

just want to get the strap to have everything it originally came with, not to use it, but if I don't find one thats ok, it's still the best guitar I've owned, or played for that matter.

Beautiful guitars! Thanks for sharing photos.

Can you describe the differences sound-wise between the 2 '54s? I couldn't decide between a "Thin Skin" '54 RI and a CS '56 Closet Classic. Ended up paying more and going with the '56. Hope I didn't make the wrong choice. Still GASing for that '54 RI.

Sorry NeedForTweed, I was not at home these days.

Basically the main difference in sound between the MB 54 and the Thinskin 54 is that the latter has a more "tiny" sound, very trebly, although the MB is more round and full, with more basses.

On top of that, maybe the Thinskin has more "volume" than the MB, but more on the trebly side.

Hope this answers your question.

:)
