Greetings all!
I´m new here and also new to the fine world of Fender Custom Shop.
I picked this beauty up from my local guitar shop a week ago. I test drove many CS Strats for a couple hours and this one came home with me :)
It´s a ´56 Candy Apple Red heavy relic.
It feels and plays just wonderfully. I own many guitars and this is the only one that really sings and talks back when I play (if that makes sence at all). Just sounds so snappy, twangy and sort of organic. Love it 8)
Just one question if any of you long time gurus are able to answer: what kind of pickups sit in it? I have tried to look around the internet, but can´t find any consistent answer. Just curious. Here´s a pic of them. Thanks!

Welcome

Should be Fat 50's pickups.

Thanks Alain.
Just noticed only the middle pickup has beveled pole pieces. Hmmm

In your picture the neck pickups looks like a grey bottom PU. They all should be black bottoms.
The middle PU looks like a reverse wound/polarity PU, due to the wire cloth color. Fat 50's come with a reverse wound middle PU.

Lovely looking relic!

Seems it has a mixture of different pickups from that photo.

The custom shop seem to be particularly digging the combination of a '69 in the neck, a fat '50 in the middle and a texas special in the bridge at the moment. I'm no expert but that'd be my guess for yours.

Those 3 are supposed to be really complimentary to each other!

There's a Heavy Relic 56 Strat series at Wildwood where they have, if my memory serves me :

CS 50's neck pick-up
CS Fat 50's middle pick-up (reverse wound)
CS 69 bridge pick-up

Maybe that's a similar one ?

Y.

Thanks yvil!
I got some suggestions that the neck is a custom 69, the middle a reverse wound 57/62 or Custom Shop 54 and a Texas Special in the bridge. That sounds plausible. Most important is that it sounds good :)
