After A LOT, and I mean A LOT of research. this is finally the guitar I want built by the custom shop. I used the "Specs" part of the Fender guitars to outline what I want. Feel free to comment, ask questions, and post your opinion; just curious to see what people think. This is one of three I want built that have slightly different specs in regards to color and pickups. I had designed one and posted about it what seems like forever ago and there is a big difference between this one and that one. Haha. But this one is after A LOT of research if you haven't got that already. ;)

Why not just buy/modify one of the mahogany American Standard/Deluxe HSS models?? Sounds exactly like one of those with a Blacktop pickguard, bridge and cosmetics.

I've thought about doing something like that but I have yet to find a mahogany strat body of any kind with the crimson red transparent color that I want. I actually played the Blacktop Strat HH with Floyd Rose quite literally yesterday for the first time and loved it. I highly reccomend it but the pickups weren't exactly what I was going for. Love the look of the blacktop series though.

A buddy of mine has one, the pickups are basically the same Alnico Classics that the Big G is putting in their budget priced 'E' guitars.

So you want a Les Paul in a Strat shape.

Haha. Actually one of the other two I want built (eventually) is pretty much a les paul in a strat body but I want the sg sound first.

Squier make those Mahogany HH Strats in the past. They had many of the features you'd expect from your CS guitar except for the unbound maple neck, Tele dome knobs and modern 2-point bridge. Pictured guitar is not mine.

For an authentic Gibsonesque look you might also put Gold Top Hat control knobs.

Instead of spending money for an expensive Custom Shop guitar, you can fool around the used vintage market for a Squier Mahogany Transparent Double Fat Strat and hot-rod it at your heart's delight.
