hey,
just had a question about custom shop. how do you go about getting a custom guitar/bass made, where do I go and how much would it cost.
Say i wanted to get a mark hoppus bass in hot pink (a colour not availible in stores) how much would it cost?
Thanks

I have no idea about cost. But here is how to start.

Go to this page - http://www.fender.com/customshop/dealers/ and select the dealer that is nearest to you. You have to go thru one of these dealers to get a Fender Custom Shop built to order guitar. There is a link at the top of that page to see the dealers that can sell the Teambuilt Custom Shop Guitars.

Hope that this helps you get the guitar of your dreams.

I would assume that you contact one of the two in Canada via the phone and see what can be done.

When I ordered my CS Stratocaster 3 years ago I was told that the price points were based on team built vs masterbuilt and how much tweaking you were asking for. A special color/paint (e.g. matching headstock), body/neck wood, electronics could make a 2K difference in the cost.

I recently asked them to price a CS '57 Hot Rod..non-trem, teambuilt and the quote came in over 3K. My first CS was in the same range, but a lot more guitar in terms of what I designed. My guess was that they would have to do a '57 routing and drill it for a hardtail bridge as opposed to taking from the production line, an HSH body that was trem routed So I bought a PRS Johnny Hiland in Tortoise shell finish with a '10 TOP' for 1K less for spite and because I wanted that guitar in my collection.

FENDER needs to know that, not withstanding the fact that we love them, they are not the only game in town.
