Hello,

I am new, and I am sure this topic has been covered but long story short. I finally, after all these years have enough coin to buy a Gilmour relic. I have wanted one since they first came out, but couldn't swing it.

I am looking for one of the first 500, with the signed Phil Taylor Black Strat Book.
I might have found one, but when I pressed the guy selling it, he gave me this as a response.

"To my knowledge the book is signed inside the cover, but can't verify as it is sealed in plastic and whoever purchases the guitar (like you...) will want it to be sealed when they receive it. All of the books for the Relic run were supposed to be signed. When they first started shipping them, the books weren't done, so you sent in a certificate to get the book mailed to you. The later batch (like this one) came with the book inside the case."

My question, is what he is saying true? I don't know. I hope the other Relic Gilmour owners out there can help me out. It would be much appreciated!!!

I just found those guys.
They look like a decent shop. They have YouTube videos of the actual guitars as well.

I just don't want to buy one from a place where everybody and their brother lined up to play it.

When they first came out my local Guitar Center had one, right on the showroom floor.
Kids that could not even play where hacking on it.

This is what I am trying to avoid. Wildwood looks like my kind of place, and that will probably be the shop where I FINALLY get one.

I know that there are a lot of folks out there that either like or dislike the relic. I have tossed the idea around since 08. But finally decided on the relic. My second strat is a Hot Rod, which I love, but I just really like the look of the relic. The Hot Rod does not have a mark on it, so go figure

Yes, it's signed on the second cover inside the book.
But the book is in a separate box together with the DVD "DG In Gansk"

Enjoy that really great guitar.

Believe me, Wildwood is DEFINITLY one of the shops to consider, along with shops like Dave's Guitars and The Music Zoo. They're one of the top Custom Shop dealers in the US, and are amazing. They're a couple pegs above "decent" IMO.

Glad you didn't come down to hard on me the newbie.

Wildwood is definitely my choice. All I have to do now is place the order.

MFSL, before you spend the cash on a new Gilmour Strat be informed that Wildwood has a used one in stock that could save you some money, $3299.99 used vs. $4799.99 (new, WW listed price). The link below will take you to the used one they have listed (even has a video of Greg Koch playing it!). Also, in the interest of full disclosure, note that a used FCS guitar DOES NOT come with the Custom Care warranty; only the new ones do. As noted by others Wildwood is a very reputable shop and you can probably buy a used guitar from them without worry.

Check this out.

I just got off the phone with Wildwood.
They quoted me a price of $3,299, with free shipping on the relic.
It is also one out of the first 500 production run.

Turns out they bought 100 of each, NOS and relic, and they have a bunch in stock.

Looks like I am placing an order today!!!

It has been a long 4 year wait for me. I can not tell you how excited I am to finally get one of these.

I can not speak highly enough of the boys at Wildwood. Why can't I have a place like that around where I live. It would be my second home.

They are a CLASS shop!!! Like the old days when I bought my first guitar.
