I have seen some older Cunetto and other late 90/early 00, CS guitars with names signed or written in sharpie in the neck pocket or cavity or neck. Any reason for this?

Here is an ebay listing where there is a signature. Why was this done?

in the case of this Tele, seems like it just is making note of the correct build date, which was stamped with the wrong stamp. Never seen any others like it but I'm sure it is on others.
