I have recently purchased an EVH Wolfgang USA (Tobacco Sunburst Quilt) and I have been having problems with the D-tuna and floyd rose bridge.

I have already had the D-tuna replaced once at a Fender authorized service center and the problems still persist. The problem is two fold. The D-tuna (both the original one and the replacement) are very loose. So much so that when I use the whammy bar, the D-tuna often pops out by itself. The 2nd problem is no matter what adjustments I do, I can't drop down to D without using the fine tuners to get the tuning correct. I do have some experience with similar equipment (I have an older Peavey wolfgang that has a D-tuna as well and never have had the looseness problem or tuning problem).

I took a closer look at the bridge and I noticed that under the low "E" string, there is no "tab" under it like the other strings. My other guitar (Peavey) does in fact have the tab under the low E string and I am wondering if this is the problem. I have included a picture of the bridge so you can see what I am describing.

If anyone else has an EVH wolfgang, if you could take a look under the bridge and under the low E, do you one of those tabs. Thanks

Mine has no tab, feels loose and seems to work fine... Is there a little spring inside your D-Tuna? I know the retail d-Tuna comes with 2 different length posts... also there is a little Allen wrench in there for something so check that out... maybe there is something for you to tighten...

Look here for tips http://www.dtuna.com/setup.php

I just came across this same problem. Yea, it seems like the Wolfgang bridge needs that tab to keep the D-Tuna from moving around.

I know your post is old but what I did was I took the hex screw the D-Tuna sits on off my Peavey HP Special and placed it on the Wolfgang. That helped keep the D-Tuna from sliding since the screw was already dirty from many years of abuse on the Peavey.

Second thing is, the fine tuner on the bridge has to be almost screwed in completely locking the hex screw in so it doesn't move. Unfortunately, this leaves little room to pull the D-Tuna in and out and little room to tune up which could suck if the E string happened to pop out of tune.

Personally, I change my strings before every gig (about 4 or 5 times a month) and I use the Peavey as a backup which is fantastic since it's almost the same guitar. If my problem persists, I'll use the Peavey for the heavy duty whammy bar use and use the Wolfgang for light whammy use and crazy soloing, at least until I can figure out what else I can do.

I noticed the same missing tab when I bought my Wolfgang. It's normal, but I don't know why EVH/Fender is doing it. I have other guitars with d-tunas and they work fine with the tension tab under it.

I bought a replacement Fine Tuner Tension Plate to replace on the EVH, but I haven't installed it yet. I also noticed that after I adjusted the fine tuning screw that the d-tuna stays in place much better.

Overall I _love_ the Wolfgang! It is the finest playing guitar I have. Even nicer than my American Deluxe Strat & Charvel San Dimas.
