Hi,

I just bought a Custom Deluxe Telecaster and couldn't be more happy with it, it's a 2009 model I think. It's finished in HLE gold and has a rosewood fretboard which plays real smoothly. Bridge pickup is slightly quieter than the neck pup and isn't as sharp, twangy as my baja tele but it has that nice Jimmy Nolen/JB's kinda thing going on which is the main reason I bought this guitar for. To play some mean $@! deep funk!

There is however a problem with the case I think, I had the guitar shipped to me from store in the Netherlands (I live in Belgium) and I think it got a serious knock on the way over. The guitar is in perfect condition (which goes to show that these cases actually protect really well!)
When I want to put the guitar back in the case, I have to adjust the tuning peg of the high E -string and then push the guitar down just so the guitar would fit. When closing the case I have to push the upper lid down and wriggle the locks.

It wasn't until I wanted to close the case that I noticed the problem and by then I had already signed for the delivery.

My questions:

a) Should I contact the store and find out if the case was in this condition prior to shipping (which is unlikely i think)

b) Does this fall under the custom care warranty?

Greetings

Nir

Looks like it's a second hand ; in that case the Custom Care Warranty extension doesn't apply.
Try to see with the shop.

It is not second hand, I bought it new at the store and it was listed as new, it is just an older model. There is not a scratch or mark on the guitar!
I will see what the shop has to say.

Is there any bump on the case or is it a hidden default ?

No bump on the case, there is a slight spacing between the upper and lower lid when closed. The case doesn't close if I just lay the guitar naturally in it. I have to push the upper lid down which forces the guitar into the original mold.

I will try to post some pictures this weekend.

Thanks for the interest!

Are you sure it's the correct case for such a FCS guitar ?

Actually, I had a similiar issue with my Custom Deluxes as well, the guitar just fits tightly in the cases, and sort of require the high E tuner to move to fit in properly. I'm not aware of my cases get dropped or anything like that, and I did buy them brand new as well. PLus it never hurts to re-tune when taking one out of the case.

Same for me, Custom Classic Stratocaster in a black case. In order for it to sit snug, the high E tuner moves.

Cheers

I had this problem but only when I tried to fit a large headstock strat into a G&G vintage case. I wrongly presumed all G&G case interiors were equal.
Some have slightly thicker end padding.
It was not the case that came with the guitar and an earlier smaller vintage headstock custom shop fitted in it fine although it was tight.
Maybe you got the wrong case? :D

My new '62AVRI HotRod, is a tight fit, the high E Tuner needs to be turned parrallel with the G&G case padding to snug the headstock in properly and the guitar needs to be pushed towards the bridge end to compress the cushion about 1/2" at that end so the tip of the headstock at the other end will the settle into position. I figure after some time passes everything will find it's own way of sitting.

Yep that is pretty similar to the case I had. Note how thick the padding at the ends is.
One way to get around it is to use a clamp with a couple of short bits of timber either side if the case.
Place one short bit of wood on the padding where the bottom of the guitar would normally fit and the other bit with some cloth on the outside of the case.
Attach the clamp and tighten it so that the end padding gets compressed. Watch out though don't ruin the case or the padding. This has the same effect as though the guitar had been sitting upright in the case for some. After a little while remove the clamp and wood and the guitar will be a better fit.
Naturally I cannot be held responsible for any damage you incur and it may void your warranty on the case if there is such a thing! :D

I received my CS bass less than a month ago and mine does the same thing but, only on the body end. When I remove the bass it closes all the way. Like No457 Snowy, I'm thinking over time it will settle in.

Yeah maybe not too of course. Just looking for reasons.
The 62 case in the photos above looks correct for that guitar and I've noticed the same issue with my 69...
