I have a one-off based on a '59 Strat. It has a vintage-style bridge, but was shipped with shorter saddle-height screws on the B saddle. All the bent-steel saddle bridges I'd encountered before had lower screws on just the low and high E strings. Does anyone know if the short B screws are year-correct, or if this was an oversight?

Not sure about historical correctess, but for playability I'd suggest the short screws are for the E and e strings.

Also, it might be worth adjusting your Microtilt or re-shimming to alter the neck angle back a little. You'll then have to raise the saddles to re-set your action - this way the screws won't stick out from the saddles so much. A lot more comfortable when palm muting, I reckon.

thanks, I know it's certainly easier on the hand. I was just curious if the B saddle was "supposed" to come with shorter screws. Every other vintage bridge I've seen had longer screws on the B saddle and shorter ones on only the E's. Trying to figure out if a decision was made to switch them out during final assembly, if that length is year-correct for that saddle, or if the wrong screw length was put in and it got past quality control.
