I just listed my Fender Stratocaster Custom Built Relic guitar the other night on eBay, and thought I'd post the link here on Fender Lounge's Custom Shop area. This is definitely the hands-down Rolls Royce of Fender Stratocasters and is a one-of-a-kind work of art. Thought this would definitely be a forum to post it at, and maybe this could go to a fellow Fender enthusiast.

eBay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0208607428

Starting: $1300
B.I.N.: $1650

For those curious about the construction process of this Fender Stratocaster, check out this link: http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/vie ... id=4519603

Not only is that not "the hands-down Rolls Royce of Fender Stratocasters" or a Custom Shop guitar (and therefore shouldn't be called a Relic OR posted in this forum), it's one of the ugliest guitars of all time. Anybody who would pay you over $16K for a Mexican Strat with new pickups and a screwed-up finish should have their head examined.

Plus, I don't think Fender wants you linking your eBay auctions on this site, so... that's three strikes on one pitch.

Wow, that was a low blow. It isn't $16K, it's $1650 at the B.I.N. (but has a $1300 starting, considering the work put into it and the fact that everything matches to a T.) I do agree with you though, IMO the Rolls of Strats period would be a '62 original in cherry condition, I was just saying it's one of the best Fenders I've owned and a work of artwork. I've owned an A.V.R.I. Jaguar and a Custom Shop Telecaster and this puts them to bed hands down.

I only purchased it, because I'd never seen any other Stratocaster that looked that unique and had similiar specs, such as the blender wiring. All I've ever seen was push-pull tone pots or phase switches.

As for the looks, to each their own. Someone in an art-rock band or newer flashy indie band might be interested, or a collector (like myself.)

I read the TOS for the forum and didn't come across that such links couldn't be posted. I apologize for that, and if this is a problem I can remove this thread.

Oops. Forgive the typo... I meant to type "$1.6K."

Dude, that's no collector's item. What you've got is a parts-o-caster made from Mexican parts and some upgraded pickups. If you could find someone to look past the hideously ruined finish, you MIGHT get $600 for it. Your BIN is the same price as an Eric Johnson!

As for the blender wiring, you can do it yourself in five minutes with the pots that are in the guitar. Check Lindy Fralin's site for the schematic.

Sorry buddy, but I hole heartedly agree with Gravityjim on this one. The blotchy finish job on that looks like the stain got away from the creator. More importantly it was not built at Fenders Custom Shop. As for a MIM parts guitar putting a Custom shop Tele to bed, well, that is just a slap in the face to all the men and women at Fenders Custom Shop.

One last thing, The guy who made that "thing" should have kept it that killer Midnight wine color. The gold hardware with the wine color would have been awesome. Still, even if that were so you could probably only get $500.-$600. for it.

You should seriously consider that guy's offer from Guam.

The case is from a '83 stratocaster elite.
Worth more than the guitar I think. :!:

Cheers.

Wow, I hope you didn't get burned too badly on the purchase of this guitar. I think anytime someone modifies a guitar to this extent the manufactures name should be removed.
