I asked this over on the 'Strat' channel and din't see a definitive answer, though it was only yesterday. Not exactly in a hurry but the answer one way or the other will determine which Strat model new or used that I buy.
Thanks in advance for any replies to my question.

I had it done on my 2000 American deluxe strat. I used a Fender certified tech to do it. S1 works perfectly and sounds killer. You can also buy the loaded pickguard with SCN's and S1. I've seen those on ebay.

Thank you very much murdochart, that huge bit of info helps me out a lot ! I like the idea of buying the loaded pickguard too ! Even better and could get a color change presumably.

Cheers,

I didn't think about that, but I've wanted an American Deluxe for a while but wasn't the biggest fan of the colors they were offering for ash, which I might get. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the most brilliant ones. haha, thanks for posting this GuitarZon. :D

You're welcome regmeister, now I'm looking at a new 5oth anniversary in black/w gold pickguard (ugly looking to me) but now I know I can change pickguards or even get a loaded pickguard for options. What a guitar !
