You could call her "CAROL." :!:

From The Band's 'The Weight' song.

"I picked up my bag and went looking for a place to hide. When I saw Carmen and the Devil walking side by side"

Plus your guitar is 'devil' red

Hey boys, GREAT! You're really creative, one thing i'm not really good at. THUMBS UP! The CAR...-idea is cool, Butterscotch! And the devil-red idea... amazing, Simon! 8)

Carmen - that's a name that would fit very well. We do a cover of "The Weight" in our band, one of my all time favourite songs. But, that name has a special meaning to me and recalls some memories.... it would hurt a bit every time i pick the guitar up. :(

So, i'll officially call her "CAROL". Thanks again! :)

It looks even cooler in the sunshine! I need to get some outdoor shots of mine, I've only taken a couple of iphone indoor rubbish ones. Who'd have thought that gold and red would work?! but its a beauty! Love the aging on the plastic parts

I agree, the pick ups are really well balanced in all positions. I think the slightly hotter bridge is key to that. I love low output single coils though.

Dont get me started on lefty upcharges! Doug always tries to help me out on the prices when he can.

My real name is Simon, JimClapton is just a made up name - a Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton hybrid thing![/quote]

Yeah, i wasn't the biggest fan of Candy Apple red in the past, but in combination with the gold sparkle undercoat it looks fantastic IMHO. And, just shoot some nice pics of yours - we all love pics here!

Greetings to Doug next time you see him from Bernd, his trusty customer from Germany - he's the man! :)

I suspected that JimClapton isn't your're real name - although it would have been nice to have contact to one of Clapton's relatives ;-)

I wish I was Eric's relative, Bernd!

I think I'll hope for some sunshine tomorrow and get Mabel out in the garden for a photo session! (so it'll probably rain)

She has quickly become my number 1 guitar. The more i play her the more i like her.

Thanks for sharing your photos of Carol, too!

Hey Jim.
No I didn't make it mate. A shop local to me had a 62 hot rod come in. So went and spent some time on that as it's been one I ve also been considering.
Going to book a day off when I can and have a full day at coda.

Cool. Sounds like a plan. The process of deciding on and eventually buying a new guitar is a lot of fun in its own right. Happy hunting! :D

Cheers Jim, and i couldn't agree more. I ve lots of ideas running round my head at the mo. Do i go for a FCS custom order? Think im a bit impatient for that  Eventhough i was quoted a very good 4-6 months by coda for a nothing outlandish custom build. Also have an urge to do bit of a partscaster, or do i buy a good 2nd hand Am Std and use it as a base for modding. All these choices :?:
But i do suspect that my visit to coda will make my mind up. :D

For what its worth, I did the whole buy an Am Std and mod it thing. Came out really well. Lifted out the old loaded pickguard and made up my own with a mint guard, bareknuckle pups, cts pots, sprague cap and got some aged white parts. Used retro cloth wire too.

Loved it for a while but I still yearned for a CS reissue so I sold it to help fund my CS 60!

You definately have to go to Coda and play one of these before you decide anything, dc01!

Does the CS make a reliced version of that Strat (just like Doyle's battered old original)?

Do you mean a strat with these specific specs? These are a limited edition exclusive to Coda Music UK. From an original run of 46 strats (a mixture of teambuilt, masterbuilt, NOS and relics) But I do know, due to popularity, they added at least another 20 to the original 46.

Currently they have 10 in stock...

http://www.coda-music.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=dealer+select

Including the only lefty remaining, a Jason Smith masterbuilt...

They also have 2 masterbuilt sunburst relics in right handed and a bunch of teambuilt righty relics but not in sunburst.

Thanks! :D

It blew me away when I opened the case. My first CS strat was a vintage spec'd 60 in 3 tone sunburst but the burst wasnt anywhere near as pretty as on this one. The black is quite thick and there isnt much yellow, its more orange to red to black. Reminds me of a vintage 60's strat I've seen in the 'Stratocaster Chronicles' book.

The sunburst righty NOS at coda has a very different looking paint job to mine too...

I found the strat I mentioned above in the 'Stratocaster Chronicles book.

A really rough quick iphone snap

Funnily enough it also happens to be a 1963, abeit a hardtail. Its the one on the left...
