I'll let you know how I get on. I'm after the Olympic White NOS. I spoke to then this morn just to confirm a few things and the spec is pretty much exactly what I'm after except the pick ups. But want to play one just to be sure.

Yep, the oly white righty is a beauty with another amazing piece of rosewood.

I think they had 1 lefty in that finish too but it had already gone by the time i was in a position to spend. Though my CS 60 is vintage white so I'd have most likely gone with my 3-tone sunburst anyway for the sake of variety.

If you love it bar the pickups and you know what you like you could always swap the custom 65's out as i think these specs would be hard to come by without custom ordering.

I play blues and classic rock and they have that famous 60s strat tone but amps and effects can get you pretty much anywhere these days too.

whats the strat in your avatar :?:

I also discovered that Doyle had also a black right-handed upside-down Strat with a hot humbucker in the bridge position.

I think he never brought that guitar onstage.

That's my 2010 CS deluxe. Custom order of 20 for PMT last year. It's my number 1 and plays like no other strat I ve tried. CS 69 s neck and middle. Texas special in bridge.
65C neck. Ash body. Birds eye neck.

Was thinking about a custom order but if the Coda anniversary one gives me what I want then there's no need. My only issue might be with the pups. But as you rightly state, they can be changed. Bit loathed to do that with CS guitars though. Like to keep them as where when crafted.

Linky to more pics if ya fancy a look

Very nice, dc01! Lovely ash body on that guitar!

Yeah, im the same, i dont like to mess with CS guitars. Keep thinking about hooking the bridge pups to a tone pot, still might one day.

Well, you may find you like the CS65s anyways but either way, have fun :!:

I started naming my last few guitars because they all have really long model names!

I name them after characters in songs

This one is Mabel from 'Badge' by Cream.

My CS60 is called Izabella from the Hendrix song 'Izabella'.

And i bought an Les Paul '58 VOS earlier this year called Annie after the girl in Led Zeppelin's 'Heartbreaker' 8)

Jim, congrats on your new beauty - great looking guitar!

i pulled the trigger too on a Coda dealer select strat (Thanks again Doug!), couldn't resist on this one:

Image

candy apple red over gold sparkle, Masterbuilt by Jason Smith. Best strat i had by far (and there were 20+ Masterbuilts and countless Teambuilt CS). Fantastic resonant, great overall response, killer playability. Pickups sound fantastic - perfectly between the CS69 and the CS60s (at least to me).

I don't have a name for it by now, any suggestions? :)

Wow! thats one striking looking strat, bg1967!

Love the cigarette burn? on the headstock!

They've a really great looking jason smith masterbuilt lefty dealer select but it was out of my price range, unfortunately!

Doug is the man, though 8)

I really like the pick ups, they seem to have a little something extra over the 60s.

How are you liking the 10.5" radius?

Straight out of the case it felt really flat to me and i was like whoa! But after a couple of days with it i got accustomed to it and i really like it! I havent been back to my 9.5" 60 strat since i got this one though, so that might feel weird when i finally do!

+1 on resonance. I dont know what it is about it, but it just feels more alive than my '60 and notes really sing and sustain through the whole guitar.

As for a name, I'm not sure! I just happen to listen to a lot of music and i'll hear a girls name in a song and go with it if i think it fits.

Maybe try that, find an artist you love and listen out. Big Clapton fan but I went Mabel because it would be less obvious than say Layla!

Jim, thanks for the compliments. Its definitely a fantastic instrument that looks even better in person. I've just added some pics below. Yes, unfortunately there is a significant upcharge for the leftys, its a pity. BTW, I dig the look of your 3TS-Strat - a real classic.

I can't say enough good things about the pickups. relatively low output, and a fantastic even range with no over-emphasis of any frequencies. Work very well with pedals. And, all 3 pickups sound killer - no weak position.

I'm not that picky about fretboard radius and frets, for me it depends on the overall feel of the guitar. But the 10,5" radius feels great, didn't need much time to get used to it.

Good tip regarding the name -just need to find one on which my wife won't get jealous about ;-)
BTW, I'm also a Clapton fan. I assume you aren't his brother due to your forum name? :)

Since the guitar is finished (mostly) in Candy Apple Red, abbreviated often to CAR...
You could call her "CAROL." :!:

It looks even cooler in the sunshine! I need to get some outdoor shots of mine, I've only taken a couple of iphone indoor rubbish ones. Who'd have thought that gold and red would work?! but its a beauty! Love the aging on the plastic parts

I agree, the pick ups are really well balanced in all positions. I think the slightly hotter bridge is key to that. I love low output single coils though.

Dont get me started on lefty upcharges! Doug always tries to help me out on the prices when he can.

My real name is Simon, JimClapton is just a made up name - a Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton hybrid thing!

I've just realised where I plucked Carmen from :!:

From The Band's 'The Weight' song.

"I picked up my bag and went looking for a place to hide. When I saw Carmen and the Devil walking side by side"

Plus your guitar is 'devil' red
