I didn't want to start a new topic but wanted to share this auction...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stevie-Ray-Vaug ... 500wt_1289

The picture looks pretty bad making SRV #1 not look legit... But maybe that's just me. The colors just don't look right.

Anyway... Should be an interesting auction to watch! Should fetch a pretty penny if legit... I would personally need more proof that it's legit... But it has bids...

JK

They're claimed to be an attempt at replication. Nothing more. A the end of the day, they're guitars. Caveat emptor.

He is dreaming about estimates.

He needs John Cruz confirmation about the #1 => no COA ?
"The picture looks pretty bad making SRV #1 not look legit... But maybe that's just me. The colors just don't look right." Same for me.Compare with mine:

Alain... IMHO they are what they are and nothing more. They certainly don't require verification by anyone with any expertise with respect to attention to accuracy and detail. If they're four well made, and decently playing instruments, at the end of the day, that's all anyone is actully purchasing.

so, The Original, are you the one who won the auction ? :D

it's really become quite a rare sight on eBay.

I remember the first few weeks when there always were like 3 or 4 of them on sale at the same time... unthinkable now :)

It certainly wasn't placed there to sell at a compromised price. After all, flipping the guitar was the sole intent behind the purchase of a certain number of them.

Fender was so happy a year ago when they sold out the lot. Don't think they need to care much now. They've left the sharks to fight over the remains. Bottom line....it's a well built and nicely done instrument to those who've purchased them to play and keep. As for the others, well, don't think they need to care much either, if they ultimately get to flip it, which was their intended purpose all along.

well, the seller does accept offers but if it really is the third auction for his guitar, I am guessing his expectations are pretty high/unrealistic.

it's just sad to see that so many of these beauties were sold to people who had no other intention than selling them and make a profit, they deserve to be played and loved for what they are.
