Hello,
I was hoping someone could help me ID a guitar for me. I have been given a Fender Broadcaster Guitar. Anyone have an idea what this is worth. It is very heavy, i think a solid body. There is a number under the silver tray , #0201. its not in perfect condition, it was played by a family member. John

You will have to get some pics up, so that we can see what you've got there. :)

As far as value, best bet is to contact someone like George Gruhn at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, and he will give you an expert appraisal. The service isn't free, but at the end of the day you'll have an accurate idea of value, especially as you'll want to make sure it is fully covered by insurance.

If it is indeed an original Broadcaster... Man, that'd be incredible...

compare it to this Custom Shop replica. look anything like this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Custom-S ... 553wt_1076

I will get pic up next week. Found out my wifes grandfather bought it new in 1950 and her mom has the original bill of sale somewhere in her stuff.

Wonderful!
1950 fits with the serial # on the guitar. If it is all in good original condition (providing the old guy wasn't a tinkerer or modifier) then it could well be quite a valuable guitar. All the more reason to get someone like Gruhn to appraise it, and to get insurance cover for it.

Look forward to seeing some pics of it! :)

I think there may be several different ways to get pics up, but putting them on a photo-hosting site like Webshots, or Photobucket, and then cutting and pasting from there is one way.

 ... truly breathtaking... I have read that fewer than 200 broadcasters were made, I would think these were ranging from serial #1-xxx. so this being serial #201, would that mean at least 200 were made before the Nocaster came about?
