I like that you use a wound third. That's baddass.

Wound thirds and flatwounds were stuff I grew up with.[We're talking late 50's now] Then alluvasuddin the word gets around that some guy named Burton has a great idea. There was a time when I was playing '8's on my Strat. One can see, as the quest for tone evolved, how the migration back to heavier strings was enhanced by amp technology. Of course, there's Gibbons and his '7's, but there's might be a limit as to amp volume settings in one's own home. :?

Well that certainly puts me in the right club. :D Maybe I'll try going back to a wound third on this next setup.

Just changed the strings out last night. Was able to peek under the hood, great wiring job, just perfect. It needed new strings, so I thought it was a good chance to see the guts of the Strat.
It's hard to believe, or not, but the neck is feeling better and better and better.
Love this thing, love the color, love the pickups. Wish I could afford (and justify) another CS guitar.

Looks like I got your original Music Zoo guitar because the serial number matches mine. I checked my bill and I bought it mar 15/11 and they shipped it to Alberta, Canada for $60 on Ups. Looks like you got a nice guitar though, congratulations. The only difference is the 12" radius neck on the 08 guitar. It came with a 2009 custom shop road show tag so that might be how it got to Little Neck and why it was a one off. Anyway when I bought my first Strat in 1990 I couldn't afford the Rebel Yella ultras which were everywhere back then so I ended up with an Arctic White standard but always wanted a Jeff Beck Yellow guitar. I had the lace sensors then but the Dimarzio Area 58s blow them away as do the vintage noiseless p/us. Sorry about the mix up with the guitars but it all worked out in the end. sincerely, Craig.

Absolutely beautiful, and with the exact spec I'd want! You can't get Graffiti Yellow in the UK - always been one of my faves!

And I'm glad it isn't a dog. CS no guarantee of quality, in my experience...

Cheers - Peter.

No worries, it all worked out in the end. I hope you like the one you got. I love this baby. I just traded my Blues Jr (Greenback, JJ tubes, Ruby reverb, basically the whole thing was modded, even a logarithmic pot in the master vol) for a Vox AC15CC1, and I could NOT be happier. Holy crap that AC15CC1 is loud and the boxy tone of the Blues Jr is no mas.
This guitar through that amp is heaven.

I recommend keeping what "The Custom Shop" installs. I went with the Callaham Vintage bridge assembly my Jimmie Vaughan. Increased the "ring". Then I put in Sperzels. This doubled the string ring. Makes sense: heavier mass at either end connected by the strings.

Grew up with wound 3rds on a Jaguar. Might change my Jag from 10s to 11 with wound 3rd. Does sound better IIRC.

Is it Graffiti Yellow? Looks a little lighter than other GY's I've seen.

Either way, awesome guitar!
