I still think EC Strats are top, but I tried a Rory today and it smokes.

I don't like relics but I'd be lying if I said I did not like that one, and it doesn't get more relic than that. Go figure. It's so well done. Can you get that as MB with some tweaks and still be called a Rory?

Given your first impressions of the Gallagher, and that it's essentially a Tribute model, why would you want to tweak it?

I have an '89 Clapton in Pewter. It's essentially a period piece now. By refinishing it in Grigio Silverstone paint and installing Vintage Noiseless pickups, it would take away everything about it that is special and unique to that guitar in its time......not to mention the fact that Nikininja would hop the pond and personally kill me for doing it.

Rorys are fantastic strats. If I wouldn,t have bought my Clapton I would have gotten the Rory.

Several reasons. I am no collector, so accuracy of reproduction is way down the list for me.

And much as the Strat has the rare product quality of having been born near perfect in tone, looks, and comfort, I believe it is less so as far maintainability.

So for one I'd want the truss adjuster at the neck end; also, I have no need for a mismatched tuner or two string guides. I also would want no relicing at all on the neck, on the headstock ok. A dull neck finish would do. And not least... I'm rather accustomed to TK's rolled edges.

On second thoughts I would not care if the COA did not say "Rory".

As for looks, it's past looking like a relic, more like a burn victim, but man I just love that body, shoot me. And the pickups are the first, non-69, 60s pickups I hear that I really like; CS69s, CS50s and VN being the best Strat pups for me, otherwise.

Does anybody know more inside details about the pups? Are they the regular 60s pups?
