So, I was customising my own would be perfect fender on the builder section and soon after saving a few presets I present a question..

How would I go about actually ordering these customised strats? It seems I cant actually do anything to obtain what I just made.

Thanks :)

You go to a Custom Shop dealer, give them your specs, they will order you a Masterbuilt guitar built to your specs and you will give them cash/check/credit card for around $5000 or more depending on what you want. In about 6 months to a year, you will get your guitar.

No, I am not joking.

I think the guitar builder needs an overhaul with further additions to the existing inventory such as a 22-fret option and abalone dots for the fretboard inlay material.

You've a very limited choice of options, the Strat still the only body shape currently available. This makes building a dream guitar a hassle of time.

With new body shapes (Tele, Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Mustang, Duo-Sonic, JagStang, Marauder and many others, incl. basses) and the added choice of new pickups, hardware and miscellaneous accessories, the Fender guitar builder would become a serious tool for designing your very own customized guitar.

Still, the only way to build that dream guitar is through the Custom Shop unless you find a similar regular production model and modify it to your specifications. Until Fender allows you to actually do something with it, the Guitar Builder is just an amusing toy.

Aha, after checking out the quotes on the custom website... I can say there definitely a lot more options to customization that make the guitar builder look exactly like an "amusing toy". It is a shame that it only comes in one shape (Strat), would love to see what could be done to make the guitar builder a tool to preview what you order at the custom shop.

That being said, thanks guys :) I have been enlightened.

Probably not getting a custom for quite some time haha.

Me neither. :(

But then, I am very happy with my modified MIM Standard Strat and my near-stock AVRI 1952 Tele. :D

If i want a Stratocaster from the custom shop order form .. but instead of having the 25.5 scale and body .. i want the 3/4 version ( like the stratocaster junior they did in 2004 ( or squier mini size if you prefer ) , can the regular custom shop do it or its going to be masterbuilt and cost 5000 $ .

i dont wanna pay 5000 $ for a stratocaster junior . but on the other hand .. its treally the guitar i like to play , they feel right for my smaller hand and while i play standing up ... my wrist dont break reaching the upper frets .

my dream guitar would be a stratocaster JR with a maple fretboard . the only one they did were MIM and rosewood .

think the regular custom shop could do a 3/4 size strat or its going to be masterbuilt .

Any unique, one-off guitar is going to be Masterbuilt.

still fender should make a decent stratocaster jr . They probably discontinued it cause it wasnt popular enough .. but still theres 57 models of stratocaster on the website . most of them are very similar to each other ( not all , but many ) .

i cant imagine that the company didnt think for a second : lets make the strat jr part of the line . be it made in mexico .. doesnt really mater .

cause the squier mini is dirt cheap .. wood and fell and hardware wise and the strat jr (2004) is just impossible to find .

:( :(

dont wanna pay 5000 $ for a 3/4 size children size guitar . :( maybe one day .

i think ill start saving my money but playing 5000 $ guitar isnt really me either . i would paranoid something would happen to it and end up not playing it or taking it anywhere .
