I tried to track my model number and serial number to date an amp I just got, but no luck, except an obscure post where someone said it might be a tribute amp. Here's the skinny on the amp.

It's a tweed Blues Deville (not reissue) model PR247, serial number
T-XXX94.

Note: It does not say reissue on the back plate.

Does anyone have any info to help me out?

Thank you
Jim

Look for stickers on the chassis. Sometimes you will find assembly dates.

There can also be date codes on potentiometers and on the speaker.

Tell us what numbers you find and we'll interpret them for you.

Google is also your friend.

Well, I hunted and I looked, and I looked and I hunted.....no luck. Speakers are painted blue, but don't have any markings on the magnet casing.

Inspection tag doesn't have a date, and the scribble is unintelligible.

The only other tag, without dismantling the amp, is on the back, and says Fender Blues DeVille (not reissue)

I take it by the serial number it was made in 94. Does anyone know if Fender made a tribute amp in 94 and to who?

Thanks.
Jim

The speaker codes are usually stamped on the frames, sides of the magnet casing, or on the rear of the cones. Eminence speaker codes would look like 67YYWW, where YY would be the year and WW would be the week. Jensen speaker codes are 220YYWW.

You can also look for serials on the tubes and transformer that can help with dating.
