I recently purchased a Fender Prosonic amp. This amp is nothing less than amazing! Eat your heart out mult-thousand dollar boutique manufacturers, this amp comes right out of the 90s and takes it's place with the Super-sonic crowd and let's it rip!!

I have this question: My Fender Prosonic is covered in red tolex, has tilt-back legs, and has a date code of H/C. Sept.1997? It has Fender Custom Shop Celestion speakers, but nowhere on the amp does it specify the amp was made in Fender's custom shop. The seller, naturally, claimed it is custom shop. It has a regular CR serial number which made me think it was a regular production model, but it doesn't explain the red tolex or the tilt-legs.

Can someone out there make sense out of this one? Is this a custom shop amp, and if so, why isn't there a logo somewhere?

Hello, as far as I can remember this is not a custom shop model, it was only offered in the red color as an option. I have not seen as many red ones, so it may still become more rare as time goes on, it just depends on how many units were actually sold.

cheers

Spoogles-- Thanx for your post. My understanding is that Bruce Zinsky designed the Prosonic as a project for the Custom Shop, and was a Custom Shop model in Red and Green tolex, then was later released in a non-custom shop production run for several years, in black tolex. I'd love some factual info from Fender, but that's been impossible for me to locate. One thing I'm sure of, the combination of the red tolex and tilt legs make this a special amp, or at least one that someone put some time and money into making it look that way. Any other suggestions out there???
