Hello,

I just unpacked my brand new 57 Deluxe Reissue amp (which is approximately 100 times more awesome than I expected it to be) and I love it. When I unpacked it, though, I pulled off two little gray rubber covers that went over the "on" switch and the "standby" switch, figuring that they were there to protect the switches from scratching during shipping or something similar.

Once I pulled them off I realized that they went *under* the hex nuts for the switches. So, I removed the hex nuts with my cheapo wrench and tried to scrape the remaining rubber off of the nuts with a screwdriver. This did not help much.

Does anyone know where I can get replacement hex nuts, or have a good idea for how I could clean off the remaining rubber? I think that the hex nuts are 16 mm because the wrench is labeled with a 16 (though there are no units).

I would certainly appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Those two rubber covers are required by law and are to prevent you from burning your fingers if the switches get too hot. (Seriously)

Prepare for a knock on your door late at night from the safety police. (Not serious)

You should be able to buy replacement nuts at any good hardware store. Just take an old one with you to match up.

Really? That's so strange because none of the pictures I have found for this amp have the rubber covers on them. For instance, if you check amazon's site they have pictures of the amp from above and the knobs don't have covers on them - they look exactly like mine do now (minus the rubber funk on the hex nuts).

Thanks for the reply, though; I really appreciate it. I guess I'll just take them on down to the hardware store like you suggested.
