I have a 1969 NOS White with a maple neck which I bought new in 2006 from an authorized dealer. I have noticed when I see this guitar in pictures something that is different then mine. The pickup magnets on my guitar have beveled edges where as pictures I see online they are flat edges. The guitar build date on the certificate of authenticity is 2004 is this normal for this version of the 1969 NOS Strat?

Thanks for your input.

Hi there it depends on how serious the bevel is. All the ones I have seen have no bevel or at least no bevel as compared to the custom shop 60s. An ever so slight rounding of the magnet is possible. Just look at the custom shop 69s on ebay etc to make a comparison.
They should also have grey bottoms. How about a photo it may have been a special order!? :D

The bevel is as much as the 57/62 pickups. I bought the guitar new from an authorized Custom Shop dealer but I am concerned that for some reason the pickups were changed.

When I purchased the guitar I thought the Custom Shop site listed Vintage style pickups rather then specific 69 ones that the newer NOS 69 Strats have. Or am I just remembering wrong?

Both the 57/62 and the custom 60s have a bevel but both these generally have a black bottom. The 69s as mentioned are grey so if yours are black there is a high chance they are not 69s

My 69 relic strat pickups do not have the beveled edges, they also have AY pencilled on the back which indicates they are the correct pickups for this guitar.

Ok so I took the pick guard off and they have a black bottom so I guess they are either the 57/62 or the Custom 60s. This guitar was built in 04 and if memory serves me right I thought Fender listed the specs at that time as being the Custom 60s pickups.

How long have the CS 69 pickups been out?

They the pickups that came from the CS factory either way which evident when I took the guard off.
