Fender in Dakota red.

If you have a picture where white isn't white and black isn't black, you won't have the correct red either.

Cheers

David

I think Fender in general...regular production and custom shop are making much nicer guitars these days compared to the 1990s stuff. The vintage style ones are now a lot more vintage accurate than they were back in the 1990s.I remember wrong, ugly body shapes with bulky horns and inaccurate headstocks back in those days....a 60s relic then didn't come close to capturing the vibe of a genuine one as much as a current one does for example.Around 1998,Fender started paying more attention to detail and it showed on the resulting guitars. On the Strats, the body sculpting is a lot more vintage correct with sleeker body contours. The relic jobs I see nowadays look a lot more convincing than when they first appeared.I think people are just trying to cash in their own hype by making the 1990s so 'revered'.I don't buy it.I see those old Cunetto relics that I really don't find special at all. Some people claim the early Fullerton reissues form the early 1980s are superior to the current reissues...I think the current ones are better because of their outstanding quality and more genuine vintage correct vibe. The 1990s stuff were good guitars, don't get me wrong, but I think they are better overall nowadays because Fender has had time to fine tune the details even more so than the new models coming out in 1990s when Fender was still rebuilding it's empire after acquiring the company from C.B.S.

I own about 15 guitars, all of them are good guitars, only one of them is a custom shop a teambuilt Jeff Beck model and it is outstanding. When I play it unplugged it still sounds very very good. I hope to purchase a Master built guitar one day and my only concern is, if my teambuilt guitar is already this good will the master built really be that much better?

I find it impossible to think that the Fender Custom Shop would make ANY compromises. There´s too much riding on their shoulders. I am of those who think the FCS keeps getting better. Thank God for fine wood and revolutionary industrial design! That´s how I think of Leo Fender. By the way, I have been offered up to 4500 dollars for my custom shop of recent make, for which I payed a little under 3k. It is that good. Studios and performers, they will hand me the cash, no questions asked. For my part, I am digging out there for just the right case!

I am proud to be part of that bunch.
I must say that I have never seen any "drop" in the quality of the output of the Fender CS.
Believe me, I know , I've many (I mean many) of them from the very beginning up to now.
What you read is not first hand and from various people possibly not enclined to support Fender's successful efforts to bring the very best to their clients.

"I can't believe there is one person on this board that doesn't read a review and purchase solely based on manufacturers marketing."
Me
But I'm enclined to One-Offs or very Limited Editions so I really don't care about Musician's Friend opinion, if any :D
Facts, please facts; we are open to discuss on actual duly evidenced facts.

My goodness. Will readers ever see any balance in this sort of threads?

I've had tons of Fenders CS and others, and a few were excellent, most fine, but far from all. I know this is Fender territory but there is no need be get carried away.

I am less and less impressed by that ubiquitous collection of yours after you imply that your Fenders weigh 4 kg. That is 8.8 pounds. It must be all that gaudy garnish... It's a guitar man, not Versailles.

I like mine around 7.5 pounds, Strats anyway.

I'll get off your back; it sure has enough poundage...

No sweat, but....

I would believe that if I was new here.

As it happens I distinctly remember the time when you insulted me UNPROVOKED, in a thread on the meaning of ,"Cabronita," about which you did not have an informed opinion but butted in anyway.

Also, there is a marked difference between a joke and a joke at someone's expense. One is humor, the other mockery. It seems you favor the latter.

Ignoring that distinction is, by the way, the frequent reason why good threads degenerate into eye-poking contests requiring operator intervention.

You are here everyday, I occasionally only but the best I can do is say: no hard feelings and that I will respect you in the same measure you respect me.
