Could I order a Stratocaster with all of my desired specs including a chambered body instead of a solid body? Is that option available?

I'm not certain about a chambered body option on a custom shop strat. Fender did a factory special run chambered spruce telecaster a couple of years ago.

Warmoth makes chambered stratocaster bodies, I suggest you to check out Ken's website for more details:

Yeah I got the idea from Warmoth so I guess I'll have to go with them. Alth ough I like the finishes that Fender has vs. Warmoth. Compromises I guess. Thanks everyone.

Can you really tell the difference in weight in the chambered Tele?

What if I order just the chambered body from Warmoth. Could I then hand that in with all of my other specs to the custom shop and then could they paint it and all that jazz to my liking?

You could order a complete guitar and then swap the bodies yourself. People do that all the time but not with CS guitars, usually mexicans or american standards.

True. That's a good idea. But I like a certain finish Fender has and Warmoth doesn't. Grrr... Thanks for the help everyone.

I'm pretty sure you can get a chambered strat. It'd be Masterbuilt though, I'm sure. They do setnecks and $@!& if you want.

Masterbuilt means that one builder is responsible for building your instrument. Team built means that the instrument is one of the CS's production models, and multiple people may have worked on the instrument. With a master built guitar, you will actually speak with the builder and go over the specs and really nail down what you want; and I'm sure they could build you a chambered Strat, for a price of course.

Alright. Sweet. Thanks. See I didn't know that's how the CS did it, I thought a masterbuilder made the guitar you wanted that worked in the custom shop. I didn't know multiple people worked on it. I'm assuming it would be very expensive to have a guitar masterbuilt?

Why do you want a chambered strat?

Just curious,

John

I don't have one, but I believe I've heard that around $4500 is about bottom line to get into a masterbuilt, and I can only assume that a chambered body would be a fairly expensive option. If you can afford it however, I think the Fender CS is about as nice a guitar as one can get.

johnjaypl - My first electric guitar was a Strat. Since then I've played Tele's, Les Paul's, SG's, etc. I have found that I like different things about each guitar. I don't like the small bodies of Les Paul's and SG's, but I like how light the SG is. I like the wider body of my Strat but I would love it if it was just a little bit lighter. From what I've read about chambered bodies they decrease the weight of the guitar (which is what I want) and they add a little fatter tone, which is also nice because I like that humbucker sound (which I eventually wanna put in my Strat too).

Alright thanks for the info. Don't be surprised if I have another question tomorrow. Haha.
