Try emailing consumerrelations@fender.com

They may have a full spec or hardly any details at all!

They should at least tell you the year of production.

I've done this a couple of times and they get back in touch very quickly and are very helpful.

Maybe, but they had no record of my guitar. Really, how hard is it for a company to keep serial number records of a custom shop guitar they built? Lame.

Buddy? It's my CS guitar that Fender said they had no record of. Interestingly, when I bought the guitar the COA was missing. But I bought the guitar new from a large and well respected dealer and they had Fender send me a new COA.

It was many years later when I was trying to find out more about the guitar that I sent the serial number to Fender and they said they had no record of the guitar. I've read other accounts of this happening to folks also. This is a John Page era guitar and I've been told that the records are not complete. Is this wrong? I still have the serial number, we can try again.

Pics are best if it's an older one.

When I take it apart to clean I'll take some pictures.

I have no doubt that the guitar came from the CS though. It's clearly a well made guitar from first rate materials. And, like I said, I bought it new from a really well respected dealer in San Jose, CA. And the COA came from Fender directly to me. So even if Fender doesn't have a record of the guitar they trusted the dealer.

Why it was hard for Fender to enter the serial number in a data base on a computer where it could stay forever is hard to understand. I don't think it's such a big deal but it is curious.
Maybe that doesn't happen anymore.

It is frustrating when details of a guitar can't be found - I understand that.

I've found the people at Fender and Mike to be very helpful when I've had questions.

Try getting proper info on an $18,000 1963 strat!

I recently had a shop offer to 'replace' the L - series plate on a pre-CBS because the numbers were worn down! They had some neck plates in a box!!
