Or let me put it another way..
In 1993 I sold my ( Black Beauty Fretless Wonder ) 59 Les Paul Custom, 2 pickups. I had bought it in 1974 and in 93 foolishly thought that I needed to sell it.

Here we are in 2011 and every so often I still get pangs of regret, all the more reason of what it's actual value would be, but also because that guitar was difficult to acquire at the time as it was after buying japanese copies, refinishing and redoing the electronics and then selling them for a profit...... :?

I had an '87 Strat Plus that I foolishly sold and regret it to this day.

Find a way to keep them both.

I'd be hard pressed to choose between them. I don't feel as you do about the Gilmour. Might as well compare apples and oranges. The necks are distinctly different as are the electronics. Both guitars are CS built so the quality is therein. They both play very well. If you were gigging with them I'd have to ask you what offers the greatest amount of utility and versatility for your work, and decide on that basis. It's without hesitation that I agree with those who suggest that you try your best to hold on to both of them.

Looks alone is not a good reason to keep a guitar.

My oldest and dearest friend, who played drums back in the day, presently runs the aviation division of a private corporation. He has the occasion to fly the boss' wife out to the west coast for a 'tweaking', now and then. The last time out, his boss told the wife
''for what's been showing up on my credit card for all of this, you damn well better come back looking like you're 18 years old. :!: "

Keep both. Eat out less, and cut back on expenses. Do not buy another guitar until your finances greatly improve. There is nothing wrong with eating beans instead of steak.

I know how you feel, I am going to have a similiar issue in about a year when my MB is ready, I'm hoping I might have more money at that point, but I may have to sell one of my other guitars, we'll see.
