Yup-looks like a '54 alrighty. Nice figure in the ash. Congratulations!

My Kendrick '54 is really the plainest looking Strat ever. I remembered when it first arrived (I bought it sight unseen solely based on Mark's reputation, it was my 50th birthday present to myself) I opened the case and there it lay. It had a darkish sunburst and the ash pattern was unsymmetrical and I was just a little disappointed. But then I picked it up and held it in my hands and began to play it and it was then I knew I had something very special. Best Strat I've ever owned and I've played them since the early 70's.

Thanks Mark. Thank you Fender.

I bumped my 1st post here for two reasons, first it's 5 years this month since my search to find a used 2004 MB 50th anniv. 1954.I have enjoyed this much more than I thought I would, it had some fret wear when I received it, but was like new other than that.Second is because the original 50th anniversary 54' thread vanished, and having just had a fret replacement, original size wire, with specific instructions not to touch the nicely wearing finish.I am curious about how many 50th 54' owners have replaced their frets now that these are about 12 years old?Image

It's hard to see on a phone pic, the lacquer has darkened quite a bit wearing through on back of neck, and finger wear is showing. It now feels very broken in and comfortable and with brand new frets, plays like a dream.Image

Thanks Arjay, when I first came to this site there was a huge thread about the 50th 54', I don't know what happened to it, but would like to know what's going on with these after 12 years. And yes, this is a keeper, I plan to pass it on to my son one day.

I still have my Greg Fessler, and have to admit that it has only had light use while I've had it. I really need to play it some more!

Butterscotch is that a resent picture? that looks brand new. I remember dozens of 50th 54' owners on here years ago, would like to know if most were case kept like yours, or played a lot like mine?

That pic is about as old as the guitar, but it really hasn't changed any.
