Hey guys,
I'm looking at buying a 2004 50th anniversary masterbuilt strat - built by Yuri Shiskov. I just wanted to know a few things.
It has a 5-way switch in it at the moment, but I believe the guitar also came with a 3-way switch, uninstalled. Does anyone know if this is true? Should it also be included with the guitar? If it's not there, is this a big deal for long-term value?
Also, would anyone know the original retail price for these guitars?
Finally, what is a good weight range for them?
Many thanks,
Fender Noob.

I can help with a couple of your queries, though maybe not the original retail price as I don't know which country you are in. Here in the UK it varied between £3,500 and £4.000. In the US, maybe around $3,800 plus taxes.

The guitars were supplied with the 3-way switch installed, and the 5-way included with the accessories. I still have the 3-way in mine, as I've never felt like changing it. Weights vary, like all guitars, but they are fairly consistent I think, with most in the lower to mid 7lb range. Mine is just a whisker over 7lbs.

Thanks Butterscotch.
The guitar I'm looking at doesn't have a three-way switch. The 5-way is installed and the three-way has been lost. Will this impact the value of the guitar at all? A lot or a little?
Thanks very much.

I really don't think the lack of the 3-way switch should make any difference to the value of the guitar. You can always get a new CRL 3-way (not the Oak Grigsby) and throw it in the case. It's about $12. Or you can put it in the guitar, and put the 5-way in the case. The choice is yours. :)

U.S. msrp was $5400 on that model, if my memory serves me correct.

Hopefully the original switch tip is on the 5-way that is now in the guitar!
