actually it varies a lot... at least regarding AA.

A is hardly figured so unless you just want some flame here and there, there's no point.

some AA will be so lightly figured that you could easily think it's just A. a good example of it is taking a look at the Wildwood 10 Strats (you will also notice that the AA used on MB's often look much better than most of the AA used on TB's).

on the other hand, AAA will always have tons of flame, but it's also only available if you order a Masterbuilt guitar.

(you will find lots of pics on Google of course)

Hi Kiwn,

Many thanks for your reply. I ordered Todd Krause (Master Builder) P bass 62, but now thinking which grade of maple for the neck (it will have a Rosewood fretboard - so 50% would be lost from the figured Maple - but at least, the back would be beauty though)....
I just asked my dealer to contact the CS to get the pics....I just heard that the AAA neck would be abt. 600 USD extra, so IT BETTER BE BEAUTIFUL! And to be such costly thing, I´d prefer to see an example or two, then could determine whether it´s worth or not....

Thanks

who is you dealer?

an AAA flame neck is $500 extra MSRP, which means it should be no more than $400 after the dealer discount, at least according to my experience.

anyway, it will definitely be beautiful

Remember that, since you ordered a Masterbuilt, you are entitled to have direct contact with the builder. I would advice that you indicate on the order that you ask to be contacted by the builder prior to the start of the build, so you can discuss precisely what sort of flame you would like.
