Hey! I've got one of these models. Do these have polysterene plastic parts like the original '54s? If so, what parts are made of polystyrene? Pup covers? Pickguard? Volume and Tone knobs? Trem tip and pup selecor switch tip? Trem cover?

Just curious. :?:

I take it you are positive about this?

Somewhere I have a couple of ads for this guitar and I think it had all the "special" things listed that were done for the building of this guitar.

Does Fender make guitars with polystyrene parts now or have they in the recent past?

I would ask this question in the Mike Eldred forum for a definitive answer.

Hate to bother Mike as I am only curious about this. The only thing I can find in any of the advertising was this quote

"Every aspect of the original has been duplicated including the knobs, switch tip, pickup covers, and pickups."

I gather "every aspect" means they were duplicated using polystyrene but it doesn't actually say that. And what about the pickguard? It doesn't state that at all.

Did anyone here download the advertisement for this guitar when it was intrduced? I may have it around but I don't know. I'll take a look.

Nothing in the 2004 Frontline, which features the CS Anniversary Strat.

Thanks Mike! That's cool to know. I saw some pics of a '54 Anniversary with pup covers that were already showing some age but didn't know it they were an aftermarket add-on or something.

Do you use polystyrene on any other guitars or was it specificly used for the '54?

Thanks again.

Thanks again, Mike.
Hard to believe it's been six years since that model was released. Really cool that you guys could find a way to get a high quality MB guitar out to the masses at an affordable rate to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Strat. I applaud Fender CS for that. 8)

Mine is one fine guitar. Easily the best Strat I have ever owned (although my other two Strats are not too far behind it). It's nice to know that I've got something with some unique features.

Thanks one more time.

And since it's the same material as the original '54s, it is as brittle. It is a good thing that the Fender CS used split-shaft potis instead of the solid shaft ones, therefore the knobs should not break as easy. I've seen a few Anniversary '54s with cracked pickguards because the owners tightened the screws too much. So be careful.

I really missed the boat the first time.

C'est dommage :!:

There is a used market and they do come up from time to time.
