I am not sure the resistance on these pups.
but they seem really low and as such I am having
a hard time setting them. Has any else had this
experience I thought the custom60's had a little more
output then the other CS offerings I am finding that I
have to turn my amp way up over normal settings to
get them to sound full. are they set too low I have moved
them up and down it is a wonderful playing guitar, the pups
just are leaving a little to be desired. does anyone have any
suggstions? I REALLY WOULD HATE TO PULL THESE PICKUPS
BUT THEY JUST DON'T SOUND AS GOOD AS THE GUITAR
PLAYS

I own the same guitar and for me the pups are a perfect match to the guitar.
Bringing them upper doesn't make any difference ?
Strange...

It does make a difference, however as I move
them up to get more output they get real clanky
sounding not a musical type sound.

Maybe but normally the FCS pups are the best match, maybe some precise heigth adjusments would do it.

Ive got a '60 relic and I never felt like mine were representing the true sound of the guitar. The guitar is fantastic but the pickups werent cutting it. neither crisp and clean nor full of sustain.

I eneded up with the Fralin vintage hots and couldnt be happier. The guitar came alive.

Custom 60s are typically wound to 5.7k to 5.8k. Custom 50s seem to be a bit stronger, about 5.9k to 6.0k. CS69s are spec'd at 5.8k, but most that I have tested are 5.5k or less.

clem160, what kind of amp are you using? What effects if any?
What kind of sound (clean, dirty, high gain) are you shooting for?

I ask those questions, because I've never heard anyone complain about those pickups.
Perhaps they just don't suit the kind of stuff you want to play.

Sorry about the late reply I have been out
of the loop lately. The main problem I have with
these pickups is the have a real quick attack and then
silence like no sustain which makes for a real clanky
sound on single note lines for chords they kinda all
get mushed together this maybe crazy talk but
I think my american strat stock pups are the best
sounding pups in a strat I have heard. Has anyone tried
Bare Knuckle Pickups

"no sustain" can be caused by pickups being too close to the string. Then you have direct attack, but no sustain. And yes, I have Bare Knuckle pickups, they are fantastic. But if I put them too close to the string, sustain will be gone with any pickup.

Cheers

David

The pickups are almost flat on the guard so that can't be it

True.

Well, that was my one and only guess. I hope you'll find the reason.

Cheers
