I have a wonderful 1959 Stratocaster neck
chubby profile.. (don't know what its called lol)
Thick brazillian rosewood slab board
logo is in excellent shape considering the age of this
neck...
Neck is dated in pencil 5-59 (I was born one month before this neck lol)
would the masterbuilt folks like to build a new strat around this neck for me?

Just spit ballin here

:D

Why not measure the specs and have the CS build you a new copy of it?

+1 what Alain said, unless there is an issue over the neck pocket or screw hole alignment with a CS body and vintage neck?

Mike, i dont mind admitting im suprised you wont do this, is the concern that a vintage neck and relic body could potentially be sold on as a Vintage guitar?

They only build whole guitars. They don't sell parts.

Seriously Fender now is a completely different company than the one that built this neck.
I was just spit balling .. didnt really expect anyone to bite.
I will probably go to a boutique builder for a nice fiesta red body and have it fitted to that.

(the neck pockets are the same but the screws for a 59 neck are 2 inch long #8s.. current ones are shorter)

Cheers

But you were hoping someone would bite.
Yeah Fender is a different company then it was in the fifty's. So is Sony, They don't make tape recorders anymore. They do make great TV's though.
Times change.

That's an interesting observation. Some might argue that there were as many 'dogs' as 'angels' shipped back in the '50's and that quality control has resulted in a better guitar. I remember the string spacing issue with my '58 Strat and that the 6th string was falling off the fret board in the upper positions. This was a characteristic of that guitar back then. The design has changed for the better. Tha neck you're in love with may have just been the consequence of the fact that it was 'under-finished' and not the result of superior manufacturing, So too, the 'magic' of Abigail Ybarra's unintentionally overwound pickups. Once she learned to repeat her mistakes, she became a legend in her own time. Perhaps you'd be interested to know that the neck on Mike's Telecaster is one that he built himself when he worked for Charvel. As well for the history of several of the necks which David Gilmour had fitted to his guitar. Built by Charvel.
You never know.

Lol thats alot of assumptions... the well seasoned brazillian rosewood is the only thing that makes this neck special to me.. its a competent neck with a great fret board.
I have owned several pre cbs fenders over the years and except for the degradation of available materials... the current precision of mfg at fender has never been better. my highway one is far superior to the 64 strat I had for a couple of years. I never confuse nostalgia with quality.... Cheers..
