I recently had an order put in for a custom shot classic custom. Per Mike Eldred they are roughly 7.5 months out in getting a guitar done.
Question 1) So I guess, without disrespecting Mike, I'm curious if he does a high estimate and they usually get done quicker or is he pretty much spot on. He was very quick to respond to a PM I sent him, kudos Mr. Eldred, thanks again!

Question 2) Is there anyplace to see how a Custom gets built from order to finish? Do they do one thing at a time or does one team cut the body, another wire up the guard, and another do the neck?

Question 3) Once the ball gets rolling, how long does it actually take to get a guitar made, say they started making it on Monday (3/14/2011) how long before it's ready to be shipped?

Ok, sorry about all the noob questions, I am just really stoked to get this guitar, and I know it's been less than a week that the orders been placed, but these questions have been bugging me and hopefully some other new people may have the same type of questions they would like answered.
Thanks in advance.

And please don't point me at the search button, I tried, and maybe some of these questions or something similar could be put in as a sticky so new people coming in would be saved the embarrassment of asking these kinds of noob questions.
Peace,
Z

Thanks again, while the info was good, especially if you are trying to figure out what you want from the Custom Shop Masterbuilders, unfortunately it didn't address any of my questions.
I was hoping to get some info from people who've maybe asked the same or similar questions.
Peace.

Spot on unless something happens to delay it.

Question 2) Is there anyplace to see how a Custom gets built from order to finish? No.
Do they do one thing at a time or does one team cut the body, another wire up the guard, and another do the neck? There are sections that do specific tasks. The woodworkers don't paint the guitars etc.

Question 3) Once the ball gets rolling, how long does it actually take to get a guitar made, say they started making it on Monday (3/14/2011) how long before it's ready to be shipped? Approx 7.5 months if it's something directly out of the collection. If it's a specific paint job, frets, pickups, neck shape, etc., not offered in the collection (or, a Master Built instrument), then it will be longer.

with the exception of I guess my order... I ordered at the end of October.. budgeted my money for the guitar to be ready in May and got a call from my dealer that it was in March 1. So, he has to hold onto it for a couple weeks while I scramble to sell a kidney... just kidding on the kidney part.. but I wont have the money together for another week.

Ran into the same issue, LOL. Mine was ready a little early as well. But there was not too much that was different from the off-the-shelf version other than paint and minor tweeks.
