Though we still havent indentified the issue precisely, it is lessening as time goes on. At least the guys at CS agree that it isnt the strings, as to what it is/was is still up for grabs.

ok this thing started happening to me just today.. I remembered the thread.

I just changed me strings last night to D'addario 11s

and my fingers are turning black after 15 mins of playing.

Its definetely the strings in my case... as I have a Highway one with a maple neck.

Also note I always use these strings and its never happened before

I think its oxidation on the strings and its probably a an anomaly or outlier... im going to switch to ernie balls on my next set just to see what happens.

If anyone wants to see the pic let me know and I will email it but I dont have a place to post it online atm.

Cheers

I've used D'Addarios for years without encountering that phenomenon. If the EB's don't give you the same reaction, let us know, and do contact D'Addario. They may have made change in their processing.

The EB's are fine I dont have the problem. I am going to go to a different shop to get my next set of D'addarios. I am thinking maybe they had a bad batch or something.

Cheers

Mine was definately not the strings, but we have never quite pinpointed the issue, it has lessened and almost stopped now though. Quite a mystery to be honest.
