So, I have gotten my 67 Ltd. It has a rosewood fretboard. My fingers are just turning black playing this thing, thoughts? I mean it is brand new...

First off I would get a soft cloth and wipe down the neck.

I know it's a no-brainer, but have you cleaned the strings?

Maybe the fretboard has been slightly tinted to make an even colored finish.
Try Dunlop 01& 02, these are the best.

Switched Strings

Went and did Dunlop 01 & 02.

I did all that before I asked here. It is still doing it.

Now what?

Exactly, I am at a loss in figuring this out...

Maybe Mike will chime in, but otherwise it's a call in to Customer Care... unless someone can think of anything else, or has experienced this.

Mike, sorry, maybe I should have been clearer. It is a 67 Ltd Ed Custom Shop Stratocaster...

My error.
Do you have any other guitars?
We don't stain the fingerboards.
See if it does it with any other guitars.

Echoes,

I do not have any special problem with mine. Anyway, every time I play more than 30 minutes, I get the tip of my fingers a bit black, which is due most probably to the sweat corroding the strings. I do not see any major difference between maple or rosewood fingerboards.

But it's definitely not stain.

Hope this helps.

Y.

Mike,

I have 2 other strats using the same strings, and no issues. And like I said previously, I even changed the strings and cleaned/wiped down the board and it's still doing it. I got to admit, I'm at a loss here, it really makes no sense.
