It's been a while since I bought a new guitar, about six years. A month or so ago I was mulling over buying a Fender Ltd Ed Eric Clapton Strat and decided against it. Just didn't feel like the right time. I wasn't ready

So, last night I go and see Eric. His playing was brilliant, and it was all on a Daphne Blue Strat. A sign from above? Coincidence? Me having a sudden GAS attack? Probably a combination of all three.

This morning first thing I started calling Fender CS Dealers and located one that had the Strat, Bizarre Guitars in Reno, Nevada. I negotiated for what I thought was a real fair price (thanks Bizarre Guitars!) and now a Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton Limited Edition Daphne Blue Strat is going to be shipped out tomorrow and should hit my doorstep Wednesday. I usually don't buy stuff untried but it's a Fender. They still warranty their guitars, right?

Anyway, if you are going to see Clapton and might get bitten by the GAS bug for a 2010 Ltd ED I would suggest you go out find one soon. They are getting scarce.

I'll get some pics after the guitar arrives. Thanks in advance, CS!

Tracking number came. It should be here Wednesday.

I see some familiar names here. Sean- I still have the Kendrick 1954 Anniversary Strat. It's not going anywhere!

I've never downloaded a picture here. Let's see if I can do it. Here's one of my Wildwood 10 '65 Strat and my 1999 '51 Nocaster.

Here's an update. I received the new Daphne Blue Clapton Strat yesterday afternoon. I spent last night bonding with it by just plugging straight in to my Clark Beaufort (Tweed Deluxe). The amount of tones you can get out of this guitar is amazing. I love the TBX and the DB Boost.

The build is perfect-flawless. Superb fret job and the set up is really close to where I like it. Great finish on the body and the color is my favorite "Custom Color". At almost 8 lbs it's a little heavier than my other two Strats but I guess that's because of all that circuitry in there. No problem-just different.

Since the bridge is tightened all the way down it kind of feels like playing a Tele. You really have to work those bends. I'm sure I'll get use to it. It's just kind of odd as I float the bridge on my other two Strats. It has a different feel as the strings give a little easier with that floating bridge.

I'll get some pics of it on here this week-end.

Thanks Alain. Nice to see you here!

Yes, that Stat and Tele are very nice guitars. I bought the Tele new back in '99, I think? and the Strat I purchased off my friend who is Gibson's West Coast Rep. He hand selected it from a huge stash at Wilwood. I have been bugging him to let me buy it from him since I first played it and about two years ago he called me up and asked if I was still interested as he was making a move to buy a vintage amp. I jumped on it. It has a mod done on the tone controls where one tone control works as normal and the other bleeds some of the mids off. It's very useful and cool. Plus it makes 10 different ones rather than the regular 5. Love that guitar.

It's kinda nice out. Maybe i'll try to take some guitar pics now!

Great that you got lucky, and the one you wanted. Don't muck around with that setup. I've known some people to have floated the trem on the Clapton Strats. That 'stopped' block is part of the heart of its tone. I have an '89 Pewter. That's where I begin and end with the Claptons. But that's my gig. Enjoy!!
Doc
