not sure if the resolution is high enough but on this pic it looks like there's no CS signature on the back of MK's guitar

As stated above, M.K. and R.B. both play line built non Custom Shop guitars. The same type that any pimple faced teenager can buy at any Fender dealer. I love it!

Is that the real CS guitar or one of these that doesn't hurt as much if it is stolen?

Edit: Guess someone answer that earlier. (first page) He played regular production run on stage.

And that maple cap boarded Strat that Knop' first used with Dire Straits is a Schecter copy. Rudy Pensa confirmed it, shortly before Knopfler moved onto playing Schecter's in the 80's.

.......and I can confirm personally that you're not likely to find some pimply faced kid shopping either Mark Knopfler Fender Artist Series/Custom Shop/Masterbuilt Signature or Pensa MKI/MKII guitars in either the 48th Street or Soho Stores where the signs on the guitars read: "Please ask"!That's Alainlafrance territory. There's no ritual weekend headbangers ball going on in Rudy's digs. Ever!! It's like a 'fracking' museum in there. Maybe up the street at Sam Ash, but not at Rudy's
