I didn't realise that you could get the regular Artist Series (in this case the Mark Knopfler Strat) as a Masterbuilt guitar too

Can someone like ME or maybe even Alain confirm:

1. Is this dealer legit?
2. Are these Fender CS Mayer's, Knopfler's, etc "real"?
2. If so, why only this dealer and not available in U.S.?

Sorry if this has been discussed already.

A Custom Shop MK would have the artist's signature on the headstock's back.

no it wouldn't, you have a picture of a CS MK Strat right above with the signature on the front.

as said before and as stated by Mike Eldred, these are legit MB signature guitars, so why argue?

anybody can order one from any FCS dealer.

The one from the German store is signed by Yuryi Shishkov so it's masterbuilt

I've seen a couple of CS Clapton and Beck Strats with the artists' signatures on the front.

Generally, these guitars use the two former "Yardbirds" signatures on the back.

I've read that Yuryi builds Mark's personal guitars since 2003. True or false?

Here's a pic showing Yuryi's signature on the back.

Yuryi is a great Masterbuilder, as several others are, Senior or not, all get their one niche as time goes by... :D

Several years ago after attending a Mark Knopfler concert I asked Mark's long time guitarist, Richard Bennett, why I did not see either a Custom Shop or Masterbuilt marking on the back of the headstocks of the MK signature models that he and Mark played. Richard said the guitars were standard production line built models and some of the first ones at that. Richard went on to say he uses D'Addario 10's on his MK Strat as does Mark. In addion to the MK models that Mark owns he sometimes plays new line built MK Strats during concerts so they can be auctioned for charitable causes.

Mark's original 1961 Stratocaster has a laminated maple fretboard capped into a maple neck. It's also finished in Fiesta Red. One of the three knobs is black.

The signature model for which the Fiesta Red '61 served as a template uses a rosewood fretboard as opposed to the laminated maple-cap of the original and features a Hot-Rod Red finish, a colour which was offered on the American Series models for a short time between 2000 and 2002.

i also thought it was odd that the neck was different to the neck on old photos but i guess that MK changed his view on a perfect neck - it's not a VOS recreation after all

My understanding is that he never decided, he had 'em both at the same time:
