I hope it is ok to ask this here...

Is there an email address for Fender CS? I need a simple statement that says Fender CS is made in U.S.A. for our Customs Dept. I'm dealing with an overseas vendor (for a CS model not available locally) whose email responses typically take several days and would like a faster way to get my guitar cleared.

In my personal experience, having bought guitars from US dealers, and individuals, both CS and non CS, Customs are only concerned with the total value of the goods being imported, not whether it is a CS instrument or a Squire.
When your vendor ships the guitar, he declares the value, including shipping charges, on the waybill, and this is a declaration for the Customs at the port of entry in your country.
The Customs will add duty and tax (at least that's how it is in the UK) and the shipper will then pay that on your behalf. He will then bill you for that amount, plus a handling charge, before releasing the goods to you!

As I mentioned, Customs rely on the value and description of the goods given by the vendor...unless they are suspicious of the contents and value, and open the package. If it turns out to be a CS guitar, but with a Squire value written on the declaration, they will not be too happy!

So, an e-mail from Fender would not figure in the scheme of things. It is purely a transaction between you and the vendor, and his declaration.

I seriously doubt whether Fender would get involved in any deal concerning an "importation" of an individual instrument from the US, or anywhere else.

Good luck with the new guitar when you get it!

I'm not sure if my intention was properly understood. I'm not requesting anyone to misrepresent anything. I'm simply after a statement of fact, that Fender CS is manufactured in USA.

In fact such a statement on this forum from a fender representative is probably good enough.

Not eveyone is aware that CS guitars are made in the USA. In fact the lady I spoke to was suggesting that Fender Japan could be a possible source.

OP, are you in Australia? If you are, I'm assuming you're attempting to make use of the 5% duty exemption with made in USA products imported into Australia. Nothing wrong with that.

Either way, why not try pointing them to http://www.fendercustomshop.com/index.php/fender/about/. This page does state "The skilled craftsmen in Fender's Corona, Calif., Custom Shop are known worldwide for their artistry in making guitars that range from the fine to the fantastic".

If you are in Australia, check out this thread over at the Aussie Guitar Gear Heads forum: http://www.guitargear.net.au/discussion/index.php?topic=19053.0.

Also, you should try getting documentation from the vendor.

Hope that helps.
