i asked this question in the tele forums but maybe i'll get a better response here. has anyone played or owned a '59 custom esquire? it doesn't matter which one----nos, closet or relic. i live around chicago and i can't find one to try anywhere. if anyone can give me a little more info on the neck mainly i'd appreciate it. i own an early cunetto 60's strat and the craftmanship is amazing, i'm also wondering if you get the same if not better craftmanship on the newer custom shops...thanks

Hey Miller,

I have owned a '59 Esquire Relic for a little over a year and love it. Fantastic workmanship and the tone is fantastic. The strings tension is somewhat "looser" due to the top loader bridge. The neck is very different in that its profile is slim C at the nut and fattens up substantially as you work your way to the 12-fret. If you like a bigger neck profile, this one may not be for you. Let me know if you have any specific questions. I live in Northwest Illinois, west of Rockford.

edit: I just saw that your post says '59 CUSTOM Esquire, not sure about that model, I have the regular '59 Esquire Relic.
