a little help please....
i know theres no comparison between the 2 but check my point...
i used to have them both i n different time period...not any more
now i have the chance to buy one of them (i found them both in quite similar price)

1)d.g. nos : (owesome clean and drive sound)
2) 54 m.b. : great KLONG even unplugged (IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN) great cleans and owesome visibility

i like them both , but eventhought the specs are both vintage....i dont know why, but i feel my playing on D.G. is more sleek....i find it difficult to play tha same things on 54 m.b. (and im not talking about shred...as blues and slow (power ballad solos) things is what i like...

id like to hear your opinions

thanx :)

Is the MB new or secondhand? If buying new, could you not spec it out with the features you like from the DG (neck shape/fretboard radius) so you get the best of both worlds?

If buying secondhand then my vote would go for the MB 54 anyway, because it's a Masterbuilt guitar lol!!

I hear you on the DG being "sleek", but when I got my 50th, it played "like my favorite oair of shoes" - meaning comfortable and effortless. Naybe your DG was more your style? Wasn't the DG based on a early strat prototype?

This is another apples and oranges situation. The Gilmour, particularly the Relic, is a replica of DG's composite Stratocaster which started out as a pure blood (whose original 3SB finish was painted black as was often the custom in those days) and underwent a variety of structural and electronic modifications in the course of its history, including 10 years when it lay fallow as an exhibit for Hard Rock Cafe. It is every bit the mongrel that Clapton's Blackie was, even moreso. Your '54 is a Custom Shop version of a classic design of a particular vintage. From a player's point of view only you will be able to decide which of these guitars speaks to you. Such is the reason why many of us own more than one.
