Just wondering if it will devalue the Bass VI if I don't have the case candy.

I bought this VI new about 3 months ago. Had been sitting in Fender shipping box at local shop for 4 years. On a longshot, I inquired. I couldn't believe they had one.
Sounds unbelievable. No recording of any VI that I have heard does the hearing of a live VI justice- not even close.

No, however it might limit the # of buyers/collectors looking to purchase the item. You can find case candy online if it becomes an issue.

I personally won't buy a guitar without case candy. Not only does it devalue the guitar, but it could lead to people believing that it's not original. If you have the COA then it should be ok, but without that it's very hard to sell to a serious player/buyer.

The COA is absolutely essential. Case candy, kinda but not so much, since like stated about, you can purchase a new set, and nobody can tell, nor does it really matter, since its not numbered.

Will the bag of CS pics and CS bumper sticker matter to a collector? What about the inspection hang-tag?

I figure the axe, case , and COA are definitely a must.

Not for me at least.
Quite often the inspection handtag is not supplied with the guitar

Does anybody even use the strap or guitar cable that these guitars come with? That stuff stays right in the bag, it's pretty terrible imo...

I've used the strap. Its not bad once it "limbers up" a bit. The cable seems to be high quality, but it's real stiff.

I don't like the strap - way too long for me, and I can't keep the pad in position easily.
Cable seems tip top...I like the right angle jack too.

In general, anything particular to a guitar which aid in its documentation is an asset. I don't think the all-purpose owner's manual, the el-cheepo strap and cord are an asset. If the Bass VI's controls are treated in writing in a separate document, I would see a value in having it.

I bought this VI new about 3 months ago. Had been sitting in Fender shipping box at local shop for 4 years. On a longshot, I inquired.

Not one fraction of an iota of a hint of a Bass VI manual was supplied.
But, some kind soul uploaded their 60's VI manual here on the Fender site.
That gave me the info I needed. I also found a spec/parts sheet online. Did you know the CS reissue VI is based on the '64 model?
I was a little disappointed to see that the nut is made out of plastic.
Being a CS VI, I expected something nicer than plastic. But I guess the CS guys know what materials work best.

Here's the candy supplied:

Much appreciated Keepers:
COA
Whammy bar
Chrome bridge cover
Case keys
Cable
Black strap
Headed for the round file:
Multi-Manual for every Fender guitar except a VI
Inspection hang tag
CS bumper sticker
CS pics (actually giving to a pic collector)

It's true that a lot of times the things that come with the guitar are never used or just not desirable, but sometimes they can be! The Jimi Hendrix Monterey put out by the Custom Shop has one of the coolest straps I've ever come by, and that's something people would really want with their guitar. The new JM BLACK1 on the other hand has a strap that I would never use. It just depends really. Both on who is buying them for what purpose, and what is included originally.
