Yep, and that's a good shot of him using the rounded edge of his pick. BTW, here's a recently posted SRV interview by Jas Obrecht: http://jasobrecht.com/stevie-ray-vaughan-1989-interview-jimi-hendrix/.

Thanks Alain. That scratchplate looks brand new. For an individual who played the way he did, the closeup videos suggested that it was essentially unmarked. Any background info on how it came into existence?
Looks like something Fender might have done for him. BTW: Hope your holiday is going well. Getting ready for our annual movie marathon over here. Four films booked between 10:30 am and 7:00 pm.

Thanks. Good archival pic there supports the fact that there were at least 3 generations of scratchplates on that guitar.

Notice the big bend he's doing in that photo and I don't think those were light gauge strings!

Don't forget the popcorn, Doc!

.....and the grapevine told of how those guys used to compare each
others calluses.....a kind of guitar hero locker room.
Something else I seem to remember concerning SRV using Crazy Glue to
reattach his torn calluses.

It saddens me to look at SRV pics. Another cut down in his prime after going through so much.

+1

It's amazing how many guys are out there tearin' it up, but just haven't gotten the break to make the big time yet...and yes, many have been 'cut down', but never heard!

I'm reminded of Danny Gatton and Roy Buchanan who got up to, but never beyond. :?

I remember going to Roy Buchanan in the 70,s in Pgh. He was one on the reasons I picked up a guitar. The end of his life was tragic. Drugs and Booze cuts down way to many from all walks of life.
