Cheers everyone! and Alain I'm rooting for you at the auction, get the 2005 Strat used at the Cream Reunion Shows, that one is amazing, and it is also showcased at the Classic Albums DVD of Cream's Disreali Gears. but why am I telling you this, you've got all of this stuff cold.

Peace,
M.

Hi, so the Black Strat is in the auction is it? I must try to get hold of a catalogue.

Let's wait for the catalog to see if it's worth the trip to London

I was going to suggest a trip to NYC but I recall the telephone bidding wars during these events.

Of course you know that you could have Todd Krause build a Stratocaster for you which is right on the money and not speculative with respect to accurate reproduction.

Thanks Doc, Todd already did it for me. It's a great reproduction of the Cream Strat, however, Eric did not play it or sign it, jajajaja, hence the Beano. Which after the 335 fiasco, I don't care if it's an accurate reproduction, however it is a project in which EC was very closely and carefully involved and has his seal of approval, which more than enough for me.
Have a great weekend everyone.

How cool is that? I noticed that Jeff Beck has also donated some equipment and that one might be able to get a guitar or amp for as little as $300. I wonder which amp or guitar that might be. Thanks for posting this.

Hello all-

Can we post any links with details for the auction?
It seems like there are some rumors or info.
The Bonham's site does not appear to list any 2011 auctions yet?
Again, I will be there for the NYC viewing, and perhaps the auction as well.
Maybe we can meet up.

Yeah? That's great Lefty, funnily enough also, all this talk about the strat got me to crack open the case and play it. It needed a little adjustment of saddles and a change of strings so.... I'm on it like stink on cheese.

I'm considering going to the London viewing, but it is 150+ miles away and I'm very lazy! lol
I have emailed them about getting hold of a catalogue.

Mike's initial post has two links. Beyond that I doubt there'll be much more until the catalog is mailed. I've already order that. You can PM me with further details on your whereabouts. There are two, perhaps three others in the Metro area who might be interested in the viewing. I'm considering the Saturday.

Come on Elliot, 150 miles....once in a lifetime view!

BTW, when I called Bonhams, I asked if photography was allowed at the viewing/auction.
I was surprised that they said "yes", as long as it is not used for commercial purposes.
Someone may want to try to confirm this.
For the last Christies auction, there was no photography allowed for the viewings,
but there were tons of cameras at the auction itself.

Good evening,

My two cents:

To my knowledge, he's not exactly getting the first 5 LP's he's getting number 1, 5, 6, and 55, I think 8 as well. Personally I hope he at least keeps his favorite. It would be great to seem him again on the road or at the Crossroads Festival playing a Les Paul through a Marshall. The way GOD was born back in 1965.

As for the LP, I believe most of them are gone, with the exception of the 55 aged and signed (which are also pretty much spoken for) bacuse he has not yet finished inspecting and signing them.

I differ from most opinions here, so if I may, I think the Beano is a really cool project. A few things to consider are: the neck on the Beano was no exactly as an R0, apparently to Eric's recollection it was a little slimmer and a long time ago he had the chance to acquire a Les Paul which apparently came preaty close to the original Beano (in terms of neck shape and fretboard), so the comparisson of the current guitar, with his recollection of the Beano and photographs of the Beano, were used to create the new Beano LP. It's not a reproiduction, but it's a very nice tribute to the guitar that actually ocassioned quite a turmoil back in the mid 60's.

There were several projects that he tested, he also tested a number of pickups which have different number of windings per his instructions, the final result being one pickup having uneven windings with respect to the other pickup. At one point he was going to release the guitar with the pickups uncovered but then he remembered that just before it got stolen he put the covers back, hence the covers on the new one.

They are also been aged by Tom Murphy, and include a lot of other great candy. To me at least it's probably the closest I'll get of owning a guitar that was signed and played by my heroe so damn right I'm getting one.

Cheers everyone! and Alain I'm rooting for you at the auction, get the 2005 Strat used at the Cream Reunion Shows, that one is amazing, and it is also showcased at the Classic Albums DVD of Cream's Disreali Gears. but why am I telling you this, you've got all of this stuff cold.

i agree with you on the Beano - way too much criticism, mostly because people dont understand what it is intended.

did you try one yet? I was able to try one of the VOS and was very surprised by the neck. it is VERY similar to the new r0 neck. I was expecting it to be more differentiated.

I actually had a #1 spot for a signed but just gave it up last week...i started thinking that amount of money might get me toward something truly special at the auction (of course not a Cream strat but maybe something Eric actually owned and played).

I have been told the 'inspection' of the Beanos isnt really quite that...but you are right that he has been quite involved with the specs

Thank you ufboy73, I haven't played one yet cause the VOS's disappeared overnight and I live in Mexico, but I'm sure they sound and play amazing.

I have it on good authority, that the reason why the aged and signed are not out yet, is because Eric spent a great deal of time with each guitar, playing them and inspecting them. I can't let this one go cause if by any chance I choose a modest piece at the auction and someone over bids me over 20k, I'm done, so at least the Beano will get me close to my hero. At least he played it and signed it.
