ordered mine also - doesnt arrive until Feb (only a couple of weeks before the auction) :(

Did you plan on bidding or just wishing?? Come to NYC and we'll spend a day at the weekend at the viewing. It'll be reminiscent of standing in front of Manny's window on 48th Street, with my nose pressed to the glass,...dreaming.....of that '58 Stratocaster......long, long, ago....in a galaxy, far,far away.

well, i was hoping (beyond hope really) that my meager budget might get me into something - acoustic or something, as you know - he means a lot to me.

but i was planning on going to the viewing, regardless -so maybe we should check it out. would give us a chance to meet each other, finally, if nothing else.

i actually will be based in ny 3days a week come the new year for a long term project there - we should get a coffee if nothing else!

Send me a PM through this system and let me know the details of your situation with respect to when you will be here and we'll see how we can interface.

I could never afford any of the items in the auction :( but if I had the money I'd go for one of Eric's Music Man amps as I remember he used them throughout the seventies when he was on stage Double Trouble his cover of a Otis Rush song is one of my favourite's that he did live :) .

None of these auctions have ever been intended for the 'everyman'. (It's getting to the point where even concerts are more industry/insider directed with respect to ticket prices and availability.) Paul Allen owns the 'Brownie' Stratocaster from 1999; Guitar Center purchased the Big Three in 2004; Look for some high roller corporate types to strike big in this one and then mark time for let's say...and Eric Clapton "Music Man'' Tribute Amp or "Marshall" something. We shall see. 8)

I went to the last auction, saw Blackie auctioned, etc.
and I will be at the viewings over the weekend in March.

I may skip the auction this time.
I ordered my catalog as well. Maybe some of us can meet up on Saturday at the viewing.

PM me on this and we'll keep a link open between us to discuss it further and post it to
the Lounge Forum when the catalogs arrived in February.

Well, we've had the Hendrix amp and now the new Slash amp from Marshall. Why not an EC amp? You just know it would sell amazingly well.

Seems to me that the EC amp in the Fender lineup is, and will always be, the '57 Twin. According to the company, they've done a couple of Custom Versions for him using some very old, seasoned pine flooring, and whatever tweaks in the circuitry they've felt appropriate to install and not share. The only thing never fully discussed is the EQ'ing he presets. :? If interested, go to Premier Guitar and search their archives for a very informative article on that amp and mods that give it a bit more expression.

Doc, I was meaning from Marshall. He was one of the artists who made the Marshall stack as iconic as it became back in the early days, so I was suggesting a replica of one of his stacks...would sit quite well with the Gibson Les Paul release.

He's inventory of amps used professionally is quite numerous..Marshall, Musicman, Soldano, Fender. I'm sure we'll see a bit of that represented at the auction. Take your pick.

That auction catalog shows amps from Fender, Marshall, and Music Man, with no mention of the Soldano heads he's known to have used. Take your pick. It's the EQ'ing for the Stratocasters which still interests me and particularly with the advent of the active electronics. His sound take on a totally different quality.

He's getting the first 5 of the new EC Gibson 60's LP. I wonder if he'll put up any of them? With a MSRP of $24k for a signed version a low number should fetch quite a few $$$ I would think.

Good evening,

My two cents:

To my knowledge, he's not exactly getting the first 5 LP's he's getting number 1, 5, 6, and 55, I think 8 as well. Personally I hope he at least keeps his favorite. It would be great to seem him again on the road or at the Crossroads Festival playing a Les Paul through a Marshall. The way GOD was born back in 1965.

As for the LP, I believe most of them are gone, with the exception of the 55 aged and signed (which are also pretty much spoken for) bacuse he has not yet finished inspecting and signing them.

I differ from most opinions here, so if I may, I think the Beano is a really cool project. A few things to consider are: the neck on the Beano was no exactly as an R0, apparently to Eric's recollection it was a little slimmer and a long time ago he had the chance to acquire a Les Paul which apparently came preaty close to the original Beano (in terms of neck shape and fretboard), so the comparisson of the current guitar, with his recollection of the Beano and photographs of the Beano, were used to create the new Beano LP. It's not a reproiduction, but it's a very nice tribute to the guitar that actually ocassioned quite a turmoil back in the mid 60's.

There were several projects that he tested, he also tested a number of pickups which have different number of windings per his instructions, the final result being one pickup having uneven windings with respect to the other pickup. At one point he was going to release the guitar with the pickups uncovered but then he remembered that just before it got stolen he put the covers back, hence the covers on the new one.

They are also been aged by Tom Murphy, and include a lot of other great candy. To me at least it's probably the closest I'll get of owning a guitar that was signed and played by my heroe so damn right I'm getting one.

Cheers everyone! and Alain I'm rooting for you at the auction, get the 2005 Strat used at the Cream Reunion Shows, that one is amazing, and it is also showcased at the Classic Albums DVD of Cream's Disreali Gears. but why am I telling you this, you've got all of this stuff cold.

Peace,
M.
