so, at the beginning of this year, I did not have any custom shops. in the last few months I have bought a 1960 relic custom tele, a 1960 relic strat, and a 1957 roadshow heavy relic strat, plus i have ordered a one-off '62 strat.

I have been thinking of getting rid of some of my unused stuff... prs ce22, '74 marshall super bass, flying v, and a classic les paul. I was originally going to trade them all in for a nice les paul... either an R8, or R9. However, I was in guitar center and saw a nice '68 custom shop strat and I got thinking I could use that trade-in towards the '68 strat instead... I was thinking... I don't have any strats w/ a big headstock and the '68 was really nice..

I'm just not sure that I want to go w/o a les paul. the original plan ended up w/a nice les paul in sacrifice for stuff I don't use anymore... the new idea ended up w/o a les paul and gave me another strat. I would eventually buy a les paul, but is that crazy to go the '68 route instead of the R8 or R9?

I just remembered I bought a '61 reissue sg this year, so I would still have that for humbuckers until I could buy the les paul...

am I crazy? what would you do?

My two cents:
"...prs ce22, '74 marshall super bass, flying v, and a classic les paul. I was originally going to trade them all in for a nice les paul... either an R8, or R9..."

This sounds like a great plan, BUT make sure you get a killer top / weight. Many of our Showcase dealers are also Gibson dealers, so find a guy who has the best selection and service. Those two things are key.
