This week's guitar is an iconic Strat previously owned from 1980 till 2002 by Hank Marvin, the lead guitarist of the British instrumental group "The Shadows".

Just hauled out my new '57VHR to compare how the bursts were done as well as the body contours. The burst transition zone on the Marvin is at least 1/2'' wide where mine is very subtle. The waist offset's low point, which is supposed to be the deepest on the 57's come practically to the back plate on the Marvin, nearly 1/2'' lower than mine. These are the kinds of subtle details one looks for on period correct guitars, and something I wish Fender would pay closer attention to. I guess it all comes down to the eye and the hands of the person who finishes it. Now to compare it to "The Buddy", a guitar which I once owned an original of, the waist offset is about the same as on my VHR, and I know that the burst is period correct.

Nicely done mon ami.

If future investment value has any correlation with the number of views... pretty amazing to notice that BLK1 already has more hits than the Monterey and SRV #1!
