They are two distinctly different strats, built to replicate era's at least 25+ years apart.

The 56 NOS is built as it would have been 54 years ago, vintage pups, fat V boat shaped neck, tremolo is 6 point.
I wouldn't compare the two.

It is like comparing a 1957 Champ versus a 2010 Mustang II amp.
each great in their own niche .

I prefer the newer feature over the vintage features, and the "Blues Deluxe" as I think it is being called (with the Beck features) is right up my alley!

Well put. Personally, if not a Clapton, '57HR, or stock V-neck, it's not my choice for a Strat.

Go to www.premierguitar.com and search their archives for the three part series on "tone" which they did this year and you'll understand why the answer to your question is difficult. The thing for you to do is have both guitars of interest side by side through the same amp settings, as guitar magazines often do for a 'shoot out', and decide for yourself. It's a tough call from one of us because then you'll be asking for qualification/quantificaction of descriptors, and you'll be running around in circles.

Doc

I don't think it would be that hard for someone to say "The NOS would be xxx because the pups are vintage, and the 2010 would be xxx because of the Beck Noiseless pups. I guess nobody has either of these Strats....

But that's OK. But I do think its funny that some people are quick to offer opinions on just about everything, except when you ask for one!!!!!

Carry on.

So I'll ellaborate. I use the Beck "Hot Noiseless" in one of my main players ("poor man's deluxe" - modded MIA strat) and for the type of music I play, they get the sound I like, which is in the hard rock range. Lots of midrange, maybe too much treble, but I dial the treble down to the 1-2 range on my HotRod DLX.

I can appreciate the vintage tones, as I do have some Fender CS re-issues as well, which if you are trying to have the Fender clean sound, I would say they are a must.

Forum members come here literally from around the globe, derived from every stripe and background, and bring to the table a multitude of talents, gifts and experiences. There's a walking data base out there sufficient to handle a constellation's worth of inquiries, and if you're familiar with the kind of stuff which has been posted in the past three years, you will know why I say so.

Fender produces a line of pickups which are specifically voiced to a purpose, and togther with all the other components of a guitar which need not be enumerated, are going to result in the basics of what the instrument will produce. The rest will derive not only from the signal chain to be employed but the hands of the player.

Suppose you post to Mike Eldred's Forum and ask if anyone in the Custom Shop could provide you will a verbal characterizaton of the tonal qualities of these two guitars.

Doc.

Hey Sean. Where are you in relation to Bellevue? Maybe we can join up at the EMP sometime when I'm out there again, and even perhaps coax Orville out.

Never. :!: I prefer to keep the names of the women, whose beds I've shared, out of the public eye. 8)

The forum member for this one is Xhefri, our Strat Plus guru. If he doesn't show in 24 hours, I'll get him for you.
