I have been looking at and admiring the work of John Matos, known for his Crash guitars, and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the specifics of the runs that Fender has done.

I have seen this release floating around the internet, and it looks pretty cool, but I can't find too much info about it. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... sku=517567

The one I really have been looking for information about is the limited edition for 50 Crash guitars, all unique in their paint jobs. http://www.modernguitars.com/archives/003154.html

Anyone know any info about these? Thanks!

Well,

Very little to add to what you already know.
It took about one year to complete the series.
All were masterbuilt by Todd Krause
I own #38 and sold #29 to a friend.

They have a glossy finish.
They might look fragile but not.
CRASH painted two guitars for another Company but with a satin finish so it feels like a canvas with a 3D effect with the various layers of paint.

I find it interesting that there are few pictures of the back sides of these guitars.

I wonder ifthis is to stop people copying them??.

Clapton stopped using Crashocasters in 2005 and went back to solid colored guitars. His current personal axes are the Pewter-like EC Greys and the Daphnes.

The most famous of these graffiti Strats is without doubt CRASH 3. It was never intended to be part of Eric’s personal collection as it was created especially for the Christie's fundraising auction.

On 15 March 2004, Eric Clapton introduced Crash 3 at a benefit concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall. This guitar was specially executed by Crash to be sold at the Eric Clapton & Friends For Crossroads Antigua Auction on 24 June 2004. Clapton played Crash 3 from that date, throughout his European and UK tour, at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas, Texas and the beginning dates of his US Tour. He played Crash 3 for the last time on 23 June 2004 in Albany, New York. It sold at auction the following day for $321,100.

Just out of curiosity, what did #22 look like. I remeber saving a lot of pictures of the varied ones when I saw them online years ago. I always liked the first one (I think) Eric had.

That one looks pretty cool looking though I can't say I was ever a fan of the partial guard and chrome control plates

Mine has a black metallic partial pick guard. Kinda sets off with the black in the body and the pickup covers. Any one have any idea what mine is worth?
